    Abstract: A hybrid powertrain utilizes a motor with a permanent magnet rotor. The rotor is formed by inserting parallelepiped magnets into slots. To reduce the likelihood of demagnetization, the net magnetization of each magnet is oriented parallel to a sidewards surface of the magnet and not perpendicular to an outwards surface of the magnet. The magnets may be arranged in multiple rows. The magnets in each row may be perpendicular to a rotor radial or diagonal to a rotor diagonal.

    Abstract: A vehicle electric machine may include a stator having end windings extending axially from the stator. A rotor may be disposed within the stator and including an endcap having an outer face defining outlets and a furrowed outer periphery with an edge configured to distribute coolant released from the outlets onto the outer face to different axial locations of the end windings during rotation. The furrowed outer periphery may taper toward an in inner flat portion. The outlets may be contained within the inner flat portion. The furrowed outer periphery may be symmetric about any axis perpendicular to and passing through an axis of rotation of the rotor. The outer face may further define channels extending from the outlets to the edge. The channels may be recessed in the outer face. The furrowed outer periphery may define concentric circumferential ridges.

    Abstract: A vehicle electric machine assembly including a stator core and a terminal block is provided. The stator core includes one or more three-phase terminals connected to end windings. The terminal block includes a connector for each of the three-phase terminals. A portion of the end windings extending from the stator core, the three-phase terminals, and the terminal block are overmolded as a single unit such that a portion of each of the connectors is exposed for connection to an inverter. The terminal block may further include one or more threaded apertures, each sized to receive a threaded stud to facilitate an electrical connection between one of the one or more three-phase terminals and the inverter. Each of the one or more three-phase terminals may extend axially along an axis substantially parallel to a central axis of a rotor disposed within a cavity defined by the stator core.

    Abstract: A vehicle power module assembly is provided. The assembly many include an array of stacked frames, a power stage housed within each of the frames, and busbars. Each of the power stages may include a pair of opposite polarity terminals extending therefrom. The busbars may be dispersed along the array to electrically connect like polarity terminals. The power stages may be arranged with one another such that like polarity terminals are adjacent one another and the busbars define an alternating sequence corresponding to the polarity of the terminals. The terminals may be located on the respective power stages such that the busbars are alternately dispersed in a linear sequence along a side face defined by portions of the frames.

    Abstract: An inverter phase leg has upper and lower gate drive circuits supplying gate drive signals to upper and lower transistors. Each gate drive circuit includes an active clamp for selectively deactivating the upper and lower transistors. The transistors are comprised of semiconductor devices, each having respective gate, source, and emitter terminals. Each emitter terminal is connected to a respective output electrode structured to enhance a common source inductance between the respective gate and emitter terminals. Each emitter terminal is further connected to a respective Kelvin emitter electrode substantially bypassing the respective output electrode. Each respective active clamp is connected between the respective gate terminal and Kelvin emitter electrode so that the active clamping function remains effective in the presence of the enhanced common source inductance.
