Abstract:
Apparatus for dispensing viscous liquid, such as hot melt adhesive, including an automated adhesive conveyance (e.g., pneumatic transfer) feed unit, a heated melt tank, a pump, heated hose, dispensing valve, and control unit. The adhesive unit is specifically designed to run at maximum temperature of 275° F.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for dispensing controlled precise amounts of a hot-melt adhesive. A positive displacement dispenser which is mounted on a programmable motion system is connected to a hot-melt cartridge feed assembly by an inlet block. The dispenser, feed assembly, and inlet block contain electric heaters and thermocouples for maintaining the adhesive at a desired elevated temperature. A computer control system regulates the temperature in the dispenser, feed assembly, and inlet block and controls a dispensing motor in the dispenser. A preheater heats an adhesive cartridge prior to placement in the feed assembly.
Abstract:
A dispensing unit for a hot melt adhesive system has a manifold centrally located within the dispensing unit to permit commonality between heated hoses of substantially the same length used to supply adhesive guns at either side of the dispensing unit. The dispensing unit also includes a manifold that is thermally isolated from the adhesive tank. The manifold has a heater that is independent of the tank heater for more precise temperature control of adhesive flowing through the manifold. A pump coupled to the manifold is located external to the tank and is heated by the manifold heater.
Abstract:
A coated film forming method is capable of readily forming a coated film of a thermoplastic material on a coated region of an inner peripheral surface of a cylinder. A nozzle, through which a molten paste of a thermoplastic material kept molten is discharged, is disposed toward an inner peripheral surface of a cylinder. The nozzle is moved along a rotational central line of the cylinder while rotating the cylinder and discharging the molten paste from the nozzle. Centrifugal force acting on the cylinder being rotated leads to spreading of the molten paste applied to the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder. Viscosity of the molten paste, a rotational speed of the cylinder and a speed of movement of the nozzle are set so as to keep the molten paste discharged from the nozzle from being scattered to a region other than the coated region.
Abstract:
A paste application apparatus includes a robot mechanism for holding a syringe storing paste material and a controller for controlling the operation of the robot mechanism. The robot mechanism further takes charge of delivering the syringe to a holding mechanism and also connecting and disconnecting a pipe to be connected with the syringe. By this robot mechanism, the exchange of an empty syringe for a new syringe can be carried out without an operator automatically. It is possible to reduce an operator's burden and enhance the operating efficiency in applying the paste material.
Abstract:
A highly-viscous-fluid applying apparatus including a fluid supply device operable to supply a highly viscous fluid, a delivery nozzle from which the highly viscous fluid is delivered, a pump disposed between the fluid supply device and the delivery nozzle and operable to feed the highly viscous fluid received from the fluid supply device, to the delivery nozzle, and a pump control device operable to control the pump, for controlling an amount of delivery of the highly viscous fluid to be delivered from the delivery nozzle.
Abstract:
Liquid dispensing module and methods for dispensing a heated liquid onto a substrate. The dispensing module includes a dispenser body receiving liquid from a heated liquid distribution manifold and an actuator having a housing with an air piston movable in an air cavity and a solenoid valve for pressurizing the air cavity. Movement of the air piston controls a flow-regulating mechanism for selectively dispensing liquid from the dispenser body. A thermally insulating shield may be provided for reducing heat transfer from the manifold and/or dispenser body to the actuator so that the solenoid valve can be mounted directly to the housing and the effective volume of the air cavity can be reduced. The cycle time of the liquid dispensing module may be specified by selecting an initial volume of the air cavity and an effective valve flow coefficient for the actuator that characterizes the air flow to the air cavity.
Abstract:
A liquid coating device and method for coating a coatable composition on a workpiece to form a coating, wherein a parameter indicative of barometric pressure is measured and at least one thickness-affecting process parameter is adjusted in order to compensate for the effects of variations in barometric pressure on coating thickness uniformity.
Abstract:
A coater for applying coating material to a moving strip of metal or other substrate. The coater comprises at least one dispenser unit and preferably a pair of dispenser units disposed about the moving strip of substrate. Each dispenser unit is adapted to be in communication with a supply of coating material and to apply coating material to a side of the moving strip. Each dispenser unit comprises a receptacle, a coating discharger strip received within the receptacle having an applicator surface for applying coating material to the respective side of the moving strip, a retainer member received within the receptacle for securing the discharge strip within the receptacle, and an anti-wicking member associated with the retainer member for hindering wicking of coating material away from the applicator surface of the coating discharger strip. Each dispenser unit desirably also includes at least one adjustable retainer stem associated with a respective retainer member for adjustably positioning the respective retainer member within a respective receptacle to secure the coating discharger strip to the receptacle for applying coating material to the respective side of the strip.
