Abstract:
The device comprises drive means adapted to move the passive element; programming means adapted to apply a theoretical law of movement to the passive element; detector means for the theoretical movement and detector means of the actual motion; comparator means adapted to deliver a signal depending on the separation existing between the theoretical and real movements detected by the said detector means; and means sensitive to said signal adapted to actuate the drive means so that the latter act in such a sense that the detected separation between the theoretical and real movements has a tendency to diminish. The detector means are grouped into a single apparatus having two mechanical members capable of moving, under the effect of linking means provided for this purpose, according to laws of movement reproducing the theoretical and real laws. The comparator means are directly sensitive to the separation between the respective positions of the two mechanical members and are composed of two parts respectively fixed rigidly on each of the mechanical members.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a car safety belt, constituted by a diagonal element combined with a subabdominal element by a means for selectively maintaining the orientation of the two elements of the belt and by a buckle, the means for maintaining the orientation of the two elements being constituted by a sleeve which concomitantly envelops the elements, one of the ends of which abuts on the buckle and the other end of which holds the zone of intersection of the two elements in the preferred position.
Abstract:
A device for preventing the lateral movement of the side windows of a motor vehicle. A sensing and transmitting device is mounted on the side rail of the door and is actuated by the closing of the door. The sensing and transmitting device is connected to a receiver by a fluid circuit, the fluid being a liquid under pressure. The fluid transmitted by the sensing and transmitting device causes the receiver to act on a latching member through a push-rod to move the latching member into position on the opposite side of the window from the sealing member thereby providing an abutment preventing the lateral movement of the window.
Abstract:
The vehicle has a chassis including at least in its front part two longitudinal members of hollow cross section dividing the width of the vehicle into three parallel equal parts. The front wheels at least are independent and are attached to longitudinal torsion bars downwardly inclined from the rear to the front. The rear upper portions of the torsion bars are housed in the longitudinal members. The major portion of the floor is at the lower level of the longitudinal members. Four seats are arranged at the apices of a diamond, the foremost seat for the driver being the highest.
Abstract:
Seat comprising deformable elastic padding which consists of blocks of elastic material which are juxtaposed to each other but are connected to each other only to the extent that their bases are connected to a common flexible mounting sheet.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a doorstop means particularly for a motor vehicle, and in which a draw rod is articulated at one end to the door upright by means of a pin that is substantially parallel to and spaced from the hinge pin and the door itself. The other end of the draw rod carries a finger movable in a slotted member secured to the door, the slot running parallel to the door plane but branching into two extensions of the end nearest the hinge pins, one extension curving inwardly towards the door but the other extension extending substantially perpendicularly to the door to form a catch in which the finger on the draw rod engages to lock the door in a fully open or an intermediate position.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a bumper constituted at least by one central element and two stops, each comprising a reinforcement rigidly fixed to the central element, wherein the reinforcement of each stop is rigidly fixed to a movable panel articulated to a rigid frame, while the reinforcement is in abutment on the frame when the panel is in closed position with respect to said frame.
Abstract:
A road vehicle has head lamps pivotally mounted to illuminate the road round a curve as the vehicle moves into the curve. The lamps are also pivotal about horizontal axes to compensate for relative height of the vehicle structure at the front and the rear and also to compensate for roll. In a modification a device sensitive to acceleration or deceleration is also effective to maintain the lamp beams in a preset horizontal plane irrespective of the acceleration or deceleration.
Abstract:
A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING COMPOSITE BODIES COMPRISING MAKING A FIRST PART FROM CAST IRON CONTAINING SPHEROIDAL GRAPHITE AND A SECOND PAR FROM SELF-HARDENING CAST IRON, CASTING ONE OF THE PARTS IN OR ON THE OTHER PART AND APPLYING HEAT TO THE COMBINATION OF THE TWO PARTS.
Abstract:
A steering column gear-change linkage is capable of accommodating adjustments in two perpendicular directions of a steering column which is telescopic. A support arrangement movable with respect to a fixed support, such as an automobile scuttle incorporates slides having slots extending in said two perpendicular directions. Movement in a vertical plane about a pivot axis is accommodated at a position remote from the steering column head by a slide cooperating with splines on a control tube, angular movement about the longitudinal axis of which is effected by a control lever. The slide is rigid with a lever connected by a linkage with the gearbox. Movement of the control lever axially of the control tube serves to control the gearbox selector rods through a rod coaxial with the control tube and a bowden cable.
