Abstract: A method includes identifying one or more features of a short term profile of a user that are not included in a long term profile of the user, using the one or more features to identify one or more third party profiles having features that substantially match the one or more features of the user's short term profile, accessing the identified one or more third party profiles, and providing one or more content items included in the third party profile to the user, the one or more content items having associated features that match the one or more features of the short term profile. An alternative method includes accessing one or more third party profiles that are not a profile of the user, and using the accessed third party profile to identify a plurality of content items for recommendation based on a feature set of the third party profile.

Abstract: Ribs are automatically ordered and paired. After ordering ribs on each side, magnetic and spring functions are used to solve for rib pairing. The magnetic function is used to constrain possible pairs across sides, and the spring function is used to maintain the order on each side while accounting for missing or fused ribs.

Abstract: A method and system for up-vector detection for ribs in a 3D medical image volume, such as a computed tomography (CT) volume is disclosed. A rib centerline of at least one rib is extracted in a 3D medical image volume. An up-vector is automatically detected at each of a plurality of centerline points of the rib centerline of the at least one rib. The up-vector at each centerline point can be detected using a trained regression function. Alternatively, the up-vector at each centerline point can be detected by detecting an ellipse shape in a cross-sectional rib image generated at each centerline point.

Abstract: Methods for sequencing nucleic acids are presented. Sequencing is accomplished through the detection of a redox active species that is indicative of nucleotide incorporation. In embodiments of the invention, an electrochemical signal indicative of nucleotide incorporation is amplified through cycling before it is detected. Arrays are provided that are capable of massively parallel nucleic acid sequence determination.

Abstract: A programmable non-volatile device is operated with a floating gate that functions as a FET gate that overlaps a portion of a source/drain region and allows for variable coupling through geometry and/or biasing conditions. This allows a programming voltage for the device to be imparted to the floating gate through variable capacitive coupling, thus changing the state of the device. Multi-state embodiments are also possible. The invention can be used in environments such as data encryption, reference trimming, manufacturing ID, security ID, and many other applications.

Abstract: A housing structure useful for protecting and stabilizing internal elements, such as a lawn and garden sprinkler. A housing has a hollow cylindrical interior with an open top and bottom. A resilient member is fixed inside the housing, and a central opening in the resilient member accommodates the body of the sprinkler. An adaptor may be used within the resilient member to accommodate different sprinkler sizes. A cover plate fits in the top opening of the housing and includes a central opening that allows the sprinkler head to extend through the opening. The resilient member resists any lateral forces imparted against the sprinkler head. A notch may be formed in the housing to accommodate a water pipe that is coupled to the sprinkler.
