Abstract: Automatic transfer switch and power supply units (ATSPSUs) and related methods condition switching to a second AC power source to allow a battery module to supply DC power to a load. An ATSPSU includes a power supply unit (PSU), an automatic transfer switch (ATS), and an ATSPSU controller configured to control the ATS to switch to the second AC power source in response to the voltage of the first AC power source having decreased in magnitude by a voltage drop value over a period of time greater than an allowable amount of time for the voltage drop value, and at least one of a voltage differential between DC power supply lines being less than a voltage threshold value, and a state of charge of a battery module operatively coupled with the DC power supply lines being less than a threshold state of charge.

Abstract: A cooling canister includes a canister body with an opening in the canister body that is configured to couple with a corresponding opening in a canister body of an adjacent cooling canister in a rack. Servers are coupled with the cooling canister and a set of fans are coupled with the cooling canister. The cooling canister provides at least partial airflow isolation between an airflow through the set of servers coupled with the cooling canister and other airflows through other servers in the rack. In the event of a control anomaly, such as a fan failure, the opening in the canister body of the cooling canister is configured to permit airflow between the cooling canister and an adjacent cooling canister to supplement an airflow through the cooling canister. In some embodiments, a dampers is included in the opening in the canister body of the cooling canister.

Abstract: Described herein is a smart battery unit capable of assessing its suitability to support a particular load. In some embodiments, the battery unit may receive an indication of power requirements for the particular load with respect to a period of time and may evaluate a total electrical capacity that would be required to support such a load based on those power requirements. The battery backup unit may monitor and dynamically update a full-charge capacity value related to its battery cells as well as the capacity requirement related to the load. The two values may then be compared to determine whether the battery backup unit is capable of supporting the load. If the full-charge capacity value is less than the capacity requirement for the load, then the battery unit may determine that it is not suitable for that load.

Abstract: Technologies are provided for dynamically changing a size of a cache region of a storage device. A storage device controller writes data to the cache region of the storage device using a particular storage format. The storage device controller then migrates the cached data to a storage region of the device, where the data is written using a different storage format. A dynamic cache manager monitors input and output activity for the storage device and dynamically adjusts a size of the cache region to adapt to changes in the input and/or output activity. The dynamic cache manager can also adjust a size of the storage region. The storage device controller can automatically detect that the storage device has dynamic cache support and configure the storage device by creating the cache region and the storage region on the device.

Abstract: A server computer can have multiple potential configurations depending on a state of an input signal. Interconnect buses between processors in a server computer can be reconfigured on startup or dynamically (“hot add/drop”) by one or more multiplexers, thereby allowing the server computer to be flexibly partitioned into custom arrangements of processors, to maximize or change interconnect bandwidth between connected processors in a partition, or to minimize or reduce impact (“blast radius”) due to failed processors or interconnect buses. Each processor can have its own configuration logic to allow partitioning of the server computer as small as a single socket. In an alternative configuration, a common configuration logic can be partitioned and act as separate configuration logics for each partition.

Abstract: A computer system includes symmetrical sets of motherboard serial channels which couple processor devices on a motherboard with a common serial link interface. Abstract: A branded fleet server system includes a pre-assembled third-party computer system integrated into a chassis of the branded fleet server system. The pre-assembled third-party computer system is configured to execute proprietary software that is only licensed for use on branded hardware. A virtualization offloading component is included in the server chassis of the branded fleet server along with the pre-assembled third-party computer system. The virtualization offloading component acts as a bridge between the pre-assembled third-party computer system and a virtualized computing service. As such, the virtualization offloading component manages communications, security, metadata, etc. to allow the pre-assembled computer system to function as one of a fleet of virtualization hosts of the virtualized computing service.

Abstract: A rack-mountable server system includes air moving systems, such as fans, to induce airflow inside a server chassis to remove heat generated by components of the server system. The air moving systems are configured to direct air from a cold aisle, through the chassis of the server system, and out to a hot aisle as exhausted air. The server system is configured to be mounted in racks that provide cooling air on either a front or rear side of the rack. Thus, the server system is able to be mounted in a rack in a reversible Input/Output (IO) orientation and can accommodate multiple airflow directions through the server chassis to conform to a hot aisle and cold aisle configuration used for a given rack at a given facility at which the server system is mounted.
