    Abstract: In various aspects, the present disclosure pertains to methods of forming an iodinated peptide compound that comprises: (a) forming a multifunctional precursor compound comprising (i) a residue of an amine-protected peptide that comprises two or more amino acid residues with primary-amine-containing side groups and (ii) a multifunctional moiety linked to the amine-protected peptide residue through an amide group or an ester group; (b) reacting the multifunctional precursor compound in an amide coupling reaction or an esterification coupling reaction with an iodinated compound to form an iodinated, amine-protected peptide compound comprising n iodinated moieties that are covalently attached to the amine-protected peptide residue through a residue of the multifunctional moiety; and (c) deprotecting the iodinated, amine-protected peptide compound to form the iodinated peptide compound.

    Abstract: In some aspects, a system for forming a hydrogel composition is described that comprises (a) a multifunctional cyclic carbonate compound and (b) a radiopaque, reactive polymer that comprises a plurality of amino groups that are reactive with the multifunctional cyclic carbonate groups of the multifunctional cyclic carbonate compound. In other aspects, a radiopaque crosslinked hydrogel composition is described that comprises a crosslinked reaction product of a multifunctional cyclic carbonate compound and a radiopaque, reactive polymer that comprises a plurality of amino groups. In further aspects, a method of treatment is described that comprises administering to a subject a mixture that comprises a multifunctional cyclic carbonate compound and a radiopaque, reactive polymer that comprises a plurality of amino groups, wherein the mixture is administered under conditions such that the multifunctional cyclic carbonate compound and the radiopaque, reactive multi-arm polymer crosslink after administration.

    Abstract: Methods of treating a substrate, e.g., forming a coating on the substrate, are described. The method may include applying a solution comprising a multifunctional molecule or a multifunctional-polymer molecule to at least a portion of a surface of the substrate. The surface may comprise a metal or metal alloy and the multifunctional molecule or a multifunctional-polymer molecule may bond to the surface via at least one sulfur group of a plurality of sulfur groups of the multifunctional molecule. The method may include combining the multifunctional molecule with a polymer molecule to form the multifunctional polymer molecule before or after applying the solution. The polymer molecule may bond to an internal carbon group or a terminal sulfur group of the multifunctional molecule.
