    摘要: In a hydrocarbon upgrading process, a hydrocarbon feed is treated in at least one of a steam cracker, catalytic cracker, coker, hydrocracker, and reformer under suitable conditions to produce a first stream comprising olefinic and aromatic hydrocarbons. A second stream composed mainly of C4+ olefinic and aromatic hydrocarbons is recovered from the first stream and is fed together with a methylating agent to a reaction zone containing a catalyst under reaction conditions including a temperature of about 450° C. to about 700° C., such that aromatics components in the second stream undergo dealkylation, transalkylation and/or methylation and aliphatic components undergo cracking and aromatization to produce a third stream having an increased xylene content compared with said second stream and a C3− olefin by-product. The C3− olefin by-product is recovered and para-xylene is removed from at least part of said third stream.

    摘要: The present invention is directed to the removal of organochlorides from hydrocarbon streams using highly crystalline molecular sieve material, such as zeolites, and particularly zeolite X in a sodium form, and the removal of organochlorides from hydrocarbon streams containing olefinic compounds using such molecular sieves in combination with alumina for the purpose of effecting a decomposition of the organochloride into a corresponding unsaturated hydrocarbon molecule and a molecule of hydrocarbon chloride wherein the hydrocarbon chloride is removed from the hydrocarbon stream by being adsorbed onto the adsorbent of the highly crystalline molecular sieve used alone, or in combination with alumina in those instances where olefinic compounds are present in the hydrocarbon stream, so that the unsaturated hydrocarbon molecule may be recovered from the resultant hydrocarbon stream containing a reduced amount of organochlorides.

    摘要: A process and apparatus are provided for the present invention relates to a process for upgrading tar-containing effluent from a steam cracker furnace that comprises: a) contacting a steam cracker tar-containing effluent with steam and for a time, sufficient to convert at least a portion of the steam cracker tar to a mixture comprising lower boiling molecules and the steam cracker tar-containing effluent; and b) separating the mixture from step a) into i) at least one tar-lean product; and ii) a tar-rich product having a final boiling above the final boiling point of the at least one tar-lean product. Step a) can includes at least one of: 1) contacting said steam cracker tar-containing effluent with steam added to the effluent in a transfer line downstream of a steam cracker furnace comprising a quench inlet, with the steam added through or downstream of the quench inlet; 2) contacting the steam cracker tar-containing effluent with steam under heat soaking conditions in a heat soaking vessel to which the steam is added; and 3) contacting the steam cracker tar-containing effluent with steam under visbreaking conditions in a visbreaker. The steam treated tar can be separated into higher value gas oil, fuel oil and tar streams.

    摘要: It has been discovered that catalysts may be modified by depositing an agent derivative from an agent such as an organometallic compound upon them. Such a modification gives a catalyst useful in increased selectivity to para-substituted alkyl benzenes, such as para-xylene (PX), through reacting an aromatic compound such as toluene and/or benzene with a methylating agent from hydrogen and carbon monoxide and/or carbon dioxide and/or methanol. Using these selectivated catalysts, para-substituted alkyl benzenes can be recovered in a selectivity of 80% or greater, significantly better than the equilibrium concentration of 24%.
