摘要:
An adhesive composition including an atactic polymer, an isotactic polymer, and an extensible base polymer, such as ethylene-vinyl acetate and/or ethylene methacrylate. The composition may also include a tackifier, such as a high softening point tackifier resin, a low softening point additive, and/or other additives, such as an antioxidizing agent, a plasticizer, mineral oil, color pigment, filler, polymer compatibilizer, or a combination of any of these additives. Facing layers, particularly stretchable and/or elastomeric substrates, can be bonded with the adhesive composition. The adhesive composition maintains high bond strength, even at body temperature and after initial stretching. Such adhesive compositions and laminates can be made according to a method of the invention.
摘要:
Elastic composite laminates are disclosed. The laminates include an elastic member bonded to at least one facing material. In accordance with the present disclosure, an adhesive composition is coextruded with an elastomeric material to form the elastic member. In this manner, the elastic member can be bonded to the facing material in a stretched state without having to apply a separate adhesive layer between the two materials. In one embodiment, the elastic member can be bonded to the facing material according to a pattern that includes bonded areas and non-bonded areas.

High-viscosity elastomeric adhesive compositions including a high softening point tackifier resin in combination with a base polymer can be used to create elastomeric composite laminates having effective adhesion and elastic properties. The elastomeric adhesive compositions suitably have a viscosity between about 100,000 and about 500,000 cps at between about 300 degrees Fahrenheit (149 degrees Celsius) and about 350 degrees Fahrenheit (177 degrees Celsius). Facing layers, such as nonwoven webs, films, elastic strands, fastening material, absorbent material, and the like, can be laminated to one or both surfaces of the elastomeric compositions to form elastomeric composite laminates. A method of making such compositions and laminates involves forming the compositions into elastomeric adhesive films and/or strands.

The present invention is generally directed to webs, components, composites, and strands comprising re-activatable adhesive compositions, as well as health-and-hygiene products employing such webs, components, composites, and strands. By inputting energy to the web, component, composite, or strand (including, for example, an elastic web, component, composite, or strand) comprising a re-activatable adhesive composition, the adhesive is activated (i.e., rendered tacky) so that it can be used to join or adhere the web, component, composite, or strand to another material (or another location on the same web, component, composite, or strand). Generally, energy will be inputted to the adhesive in the form of infrared heat, heat, or ultrasonic energy, although any energy form may be used, so long as the energy is capable of activating the adhesive. Prior to activation, webs, components, composites, and strands comprising such re-activatable adhesives are convenient to handle because the adhesive is not yet tacky. Furthermore, the re-activatable adhesive may be activated at desired locations only, thereby permitting construction of bond patterns that promote desired characteristics (e.g., desired ratios of elastic properties and softness).

A tire assembly for a road vehicle is provided. The assembly includes a tire and first and second expandable chambers positioned within the tire. A series of actuators for selectively pumping air to the first and second chambers is provided, wherein the assembly includes a third chamber arranged between the first and second chambers. Each of the actuators is pneumatically connected to the first, second and third chambers by way of a radial air loop, wherein the radial air loop has a first chamber valve, a second chamber valve, an actuator valve, and a third chamber valve.

An automated therapy system having an infusion catheter; a sensor adapted to sense a patient parameter; and a controller communicating with the sensor and programmed to control flow output from the infusion catheter into a patient based on the patient parameter without removing fluid from the patient. The invention also includes a method of controlling infusion of a fluid to a patient. The method includes the following steps: monitoring a patient parameter with a sensor to generate a sensor signal; providing the sensor signal to a controller; and adjusting fluid flow to the patient based on the sensor signal without removing fluid from the patient.

Apparatus for delivering a medical device to a location in a patient's body includes an elongate catheter body having a proximal end and a distal end, a pod coupled with the distal end of the catheter body and adapted to house the medical device during delivery to the location and to open to release the medical device, and at least one distal actuator coupled with at least one of the pod and the medical device. The distal actuator is adapted to promote opening of the pod. A method involves advancing a pod at the distal end of an elongate catheter to the location within the body and activating an actuator coupled with the pod and/or the medical device to cause the pod to open. Opening the pod releases the medical device.
