Abstract: A wireless communication device including a processor; a memory, coupled to the processor, to store instructions, which when executed by the processor, cause the processor to: connect an antenna to an energy harvesting (EH) circuit, wherein the antenna is configured to capture a Wi-Fi radio frequency (RF) signal; send the Wi-Fi RF signal to the EH circuit; determine a RF signal strength of the Wi-Fi RF signal; and determine a location of the wireless communication device based on the RF signal strength.

Abstract: A wireless computing device may include an internal antenna, a radio frequency (RF) transmission path that is switchably connectable to the internal antenna, a Universal Serial Bus (USB) connector configured to connect to an external antenna, a detector configured to detect if an external antenna is connected to the USB connector, and an antenna selector configured to (1) connect the internal antenna into the RF transmission path if the detector detects that no external antenna is connected to the USB connector and (2) disconnect the internal antenna from the RF transmission path and connect the external antenna into the RF transmission path if the detector detects that the external antenna is connected to the USB connector, thereby improving the wireless transmission/reception performance of the internal wireless module of the wireless computing device.

Abstract: A slot antenna assembly for a portable electronic device is disclosed. The assembly includes a first slot antenna having a first slot through a substrate from an outer surface of the substrate to an inner surface of the substrate. The assembly also includes a second slot antenna including a second slot through the substrate from the outer surface of the substrate to the inner surface of the substrate. An isolator includes at least one of an isolation slot and a conductor. The isolation slot includes a substrate isolation slot which extends through the substrate between the first and second slot antennas; and a conductor. The conductor connects the inner surface of the substrate between the first and second antennas to an opposite inner surface of an opposite substrate opposite the inner surface between the first and second antennas.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for implementing host-centric antenna control. An apparatus may include a plurality of antennas for wireless transmission and reception, a wireless modem for processing a signal for wireless transmission and reception via the antennas, a processor (host), and an antenna tuner circuitry. The processor is configured to run an antenna tuner software module configured to generate a control signal to configure at least one antenna. The antenna tuner circuitry is configured to switch or tune the at least one antenna based on the control signal. The apparatus may include at least one sensor coupled to the processor. The antenna tuner software module may be configured to generate the control signal based on inputs from the at least one sensor. The antenna tuner software module may be configured to receive RF parameters from the wireless modem and generate the control signal based on the RF parameters.

The encapsulated antenna device also includes an antenna device comprising a ground terminal and an antenna body, wherein the ground terminal is connected to the metal layer, wherein the antenna body is arranged above the metal layer and within the cavity. The encapsulated antenna device also includes a spacer between the metal layer and the antenna body that provides an offset distance between the metal layer and the antenna body.
