摘要: This invention is drawn to a method for eliminating the grayish discoloration which customarily develops when lead-free and cadmium-free glass frits are applied to substrates employing an organic vehicle and which are thereafter fired to fuse the frit particles into a glaze. The grayish hue results from a carbonaceous residue left upon thermally decomposing the organic vehicle. The inventive method comprises five general elements:(a) glass frit particles of a desired composition are prepared;(b) a coating of an organic compound containing at least one sulfur oxide group as an oxidizing agent is adsorbed on the surface of the particles;(c) the coated particles are mixed with an organic vehicle;(d) that mixture is coated onto a surface of a substrate; and(e) that coated substrate is fired to fuse the frit particles into a glaze, the oxidizing agent eliminating the carbonaceous residue left upon thermal decomposition of the organic vehicle.

摘要: There are disclosed thermoplastic inks in the nature of high viscosity, tacky pastes which exhibit high cohesive strength, high pressure sensitivity at low temperatures, high thermal stability and low affinity for silicone surfaces. These properties make the inks particularly useful in those printing processes involving multiple elastomeric transfer members, in particular, those processes wherein silicone transfer members print successive colors onto a silicone collector which in turn transfers the multicolored print in a single step to ware or decal paper. The ink formulations consist essentially, in weight percent, of:(a) 50-80% of a pigmented, vitreous, inorganic flux;(b) 2-20% of a selected organic polymer;(c) 5-25% of a selected plasticizer;(d) 2-20% of a selected amorphous tackifying resin; and optionally,(e) up to 20% of an organic wax.

摘要: High power repeaters for use in amplifying optical data signals transmitted through undersea fiber optic cables are disclosed. Raman amplification schemes using 100 or more pump lasers are integrated into industry standard sized pressure vessels for amplifying optical data signals transmitted through one or more fiber optic pairs. Other repeater features include high density packaging, efficient power distribution, and component sharing.

摘要: A method and apparatus for making color filters for liquid crystal display panels. A transfer layer is formed on a collector roll, and a raised pattern corresponding to the desired black matrix pattern is formed on the transfer layer by an embossing means. A plurality of colored ink patterns is formed in the appropriate location within the boundaries formed by the raised pattern, thereby forming the multicolor image that will become the color filter. This multicolored image is then transferred to the substrate. Preferably, the multicolored ink pattern is deposited to a substrate while in a deformable state, flattened during the deposition process, and the deformed, more uniform shape of the printed cells is thereafter retained, preferably by curing during deposition to the substrate.

摘要: A method for extruding a stiffer powder mixture at lower extrusion pressure involves providing an aqueous mixture of inorganic powder that can be metal, ceramic, glass, glass ceramic, molecular sieve, and/or carbon, fatty acid the main chain of which has at least 12 carbon atoms, thermally gellable cellulose ether binder, and wax that can be paraffin and/or propylene glycol hydroxystearate, wherein the powder is coated with the fatty acid component. If clay is included in the mixture, it is provided as either calcined or hydrous. The mixture is passed through an extruder and through an extrusion die to produce a green extrudate at an extrusion pressure that is equal to or lower than it would be absent the combination of the fatty acid, the cellulose ether binder, and the wax. The mixture in the extruder and the extrudate are stiffer than without this combination.
