Adjacent to an ablation element (9) provided on the body (5), at least one or preferably two or more sensors (11-21) are provided, preferably at both of opposing sides of the ablation element (9). The ablation device (1) is adapted for detecting physiological information of tissue (27, 29, 31) surrounding an ablation site (33) based on measurement values provided by the sensors. E.g., optical sensors may be used to measure a reflectance spectrum indicating whether the adjacent tissue is healthy tissue (31), tumorous tissue (27) or ablated tissue (29). Using such information, an ablation process may be controlled.

The present invention relates to an optical probe (1) with an optical guide (2), e.g. an optical fibre, and a lens system (6) rigidly coupled to an end portion (2a) of the optical guide. The probe has a housing (3) with a cavity for the optical guide, the housing having at its distal end a transparent window (4), the window having an insignificant optical power as compared to the optical power of the said lens system (6). Actuation means (8) displaces the 5 lens system so as to enable optical scanning of a region of interest (ROI). The invention is particularly suited for miniature applications e.g. for in-vivo medical application. By attaching the lens system (6) to the optical guide (2) via the mount (7), the field of view (FOV) of the optical probe (1) may be determined directly by the transverse stroke of the optical fibre (2). Hence only a relatively small stroke is required. The field of view is thus 10 effectively no longer limited by the transverse stroke. The optical probe is especially advantageous for non-linear optical imaging where the optical guide may be an optical fibre with a relatively low exit numerical aperture.

A disk cartridge comprises a disk (1) having a central hub (4) for engagement with a disk drive. The disk is accommodated in a housing (2). The housing and disk are dimensioned such that there is limited clearance in a direction parallel to and perpendicular to the plane of the disk. The cartridge comprises a clamping member (11), such as a magnet, to clamp the disk to one side of the cartridge housing when the cartridge is free from the disk drive. The housing and the disk have co-operating centering members (13, 14), preferably near the center of the disk, so as to center the disk with respect to the cartridge housing when the disk is clamped to the housing by the clamping member. In this way, the disk is always in the correct position for a next engagement by the disk drive.

A set of actuators (A), e.g. electromagnetic drive coils, can displace the distal end by application of a drive signal (Vx, Vy). A control unit (CU) generates the drive signal (Vx, Vy) so as to provide a scanning frequency which varies according to an amplitude of the drive signal (Vx, Vy). With such probe system it is possible to scan a field of view with a scanning frequency that varies with the scanning radius. Taking into account the maximum allowable drive current, it is possible to increase scanning speed compared to scanning at the mechanical resonance frequency of the optical system, since small radii can be scanned at a high scanning frequency.

The invention provides a drive system for driving a lens holder (6) of the optical system in a disk drive unit. It comprises a movable part (8) connected to the lens holder, and a base (7) including a guide (9) for guiding the movable part. A drive motor comprises a stator (12) fixed with respect to the base and a translator (13) movable with respect to the stator upon actuation of the motor. A return mechanism (21) is connected between the translator and the movable part for bringing the rotor/translator in a starting position with respect to the movable part in a rest condition of the drive motor. A portion (18) of the movable part is in the path of movement of the translator, while there is a free stroke (20) between the portion of the movable part and the translator in the starting position of the translator. As a result, the translator will hit the movable part, thereby overcoming the static friction between the movable part and the base.
