Abstract: A disinfectant composition that is capable of inactivating non-enveloped viruses as well as other microorganisms, such as gram negative and gram positive bacteria, fungi, parasites, enveloped viruses, etc., is provided. Through selective control over the nature of the acid(s) employed and the overall pH level, the present inventors have discovered that the composition can achieve rapid antiviral efficacy, particularly against non-enveloped viruses. Once applied to a surface (e.g., hard surface), the disinfectant composition forms a film that remains capable of providing residual antiviral activity. Notably, the present inventors have discovered that the use of a vinylpyrrolidone copolymer in combination with a polyquaternary ammonium polymer and cationic surfactant can have a synergistic effect on the stability of the film such that it can also achieve long-term, residual antiviral activity.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions, particularly compositions useful in maintaining and supporting healthy microflora in the female urogenital tract which could lead to inhibition of vaginal infections, as well as methods of treating and preventing vaginal infections. Compositions useful in supporting healthy microflora, disclosed herein, generally include a first therapeutic agent including α methyl-D glucoside and a second therapeutic agent including a nitrogen containing compound at a therapeutic amount. In some embodiments, the nitrogen containing compound can be, for example, L-Cysteine, Cytidine, D-Asparagine, Pyrimidine, D-Alanine, D-Glucosamine HCL, and N-Acetyl-D-Glucosamine.

Abstract: A composition for inhibiting the attachment of microbes to an animate or inanimate surface is disclosed. The composition includes a carrier and an effective amount of an anti-adherent agent. The anti-adherent agents include botanical agents such Soybean extract, Horse chestnut extract, Gypenoside, Resveratrol, Astragalus extract, Rhubarb rootextract, Allium cepaextract, Cassia seedextract, Ginkgo bilobaextract, and Silymarin, and combinations thereof. The efficacy of the botanical agents is microbe and surface dependent. Various delivery vehicles, including a wipe, may be used to deliver the composition to the surface.

Abstract: Methods and compositions for modulating a bladder microbiome in a subject to improve bladder health are disclosed. The method can include providing a composition including a carrier and a bladder therapeutic agent. Abstract: A sensor for detecting and indicating a potential forthcoming skin or gastrointestinal issue includes a detection mechanism and an output mechanism. The detection mechanism is configured for detecting at least one Bacteroides virulence factor present from a sample location on a subject. The output mechanism is configured to provide an indication of a potential forthcoming skin or gastrointestinal issue based on at least one Bacteroides virulence factor being detected. Additional embodiments include a sensor having a detection mechanism configured for detecting an amount of Bacteroides and an amount of Anaerococcus from the sample location and an output mechanism configured to provide an indication of a potential forthcoming skin or gastrointestinal issue based on a Bacteroides to Bacteroides ratio of at least 0.4 being detected. The sensor may be incorporated into absorbent articles, such as diapers, training pants, adult incontinence products, female hygiene products, or wipes.

Abstract: Methods of inhibiting microbes from attaching to a surface and anti-adherent compositions are disclosed. One method can include providing an anti-adherent composition that includes an anti-adherent agent configured to inhibit microbes from attaching to the surface. The anti-adherent agent can be: Acrylates Copolymer, Trimethylpentanediol/Adipic Acid/Glycerin crosspolymer, Trimethylpentanediol/Adipic Acid Copolymer, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Acrylates/C12-22 Alkylmethacrylate Copolymer, Octocrylene, Ethylene Oxide/Propylene Oxide Block Copolymer, Polyquaternium-101, or any combinations thereof. The method can include applying the composition to the surface and allowing at least some of the composition to remain on the surface such that the anti-adherent agent inhibits microbes from attaching to the surface. The anti-adherent composition can include a humectant and can be non-antimicrobial.
