摘要: A superhydrophobic surface includes a substrate treated with a composition including a hydrophobic matrix component free of fluorine; filler particles, wherein the filler particles are plant-based elements of a size ranging from 100 nm to 100 μm; and water, wherein the hydrophobic component is in an aqueous dispersion, and wherein the surface exhibits a water contact angle of 150° or greater. Also, a disposable absorbent article includes a substrate having a surface, the surface including a composition including a hydrophobic matrix component free of fluorine; filler particles, wherein the filler particles are plant-based elements of a size ranging from 100 nm to 100 μm, wherein the plant-based elements include micro- and nano-fibrillated cellulose; and water, wherein the hydrophobic component is in an aqueous dispersion, and wherein the surface exhibits a water contact angle of 150° or greater.

摘要: Cosmetic oil-in-water emulsions that can provide a hydrophobic film to protect from excessive hydration are disclosed. In some aspects, a cosmetic oil-in-water emulsion can include water at a concentration of at least about 70% by total weight of the cosmetic oil-in-water emulsion, a plurality of water-in-oil emulsifiers, a base oil, an oil-in-water emulsifier, and a film-forming polymer. The base oil can have a wVTR of about 1.0 to 30 g/m2/hr and can be at a concentration of no more than about 15% by weight of the cosmetic oil-in water emulsion.

摘要: A disinfectant composition that is capable of inactivating non-enveloped viruses as well as other microorganisms, such as gram negative and gram positive bacteria, fungi, parasites, enveloped viruses, etc., is provided. Through selective control over the nature of the acid(s) employed and the overall pH level, the present inventors have discovered that the composition can achieve rapid antiviral efficacy, particularly against non-enveloped viruses. Once applied to a surface (e.g., hard surface), the disinfectant composition forms a film that remains capable of providing residual antiviral activity. Notably, the present inventors have discovered that the use of a vinylpyrrolidone copolymer in combination with a polyquaternary ammonium polymer and cationic surfactant can have a synergistic effect on the stability of the film such that it can also achieve long-term, residual antiviral activity.

摘要: A disinfectant composition that contains a unique combination of a primary antiviral agent and a secondary antiviral agent is provided. More particularly, the primary antiviral agent includes a polyprotic acid having a low first acid dissociation constant and the secondary antiviral agent is selected from the group consisting of an anionic N-acyl compound, metal halide salt, amine compound, amine compound, aliphatic amine oxide, alkyl glycoside, alcohol ethoxylate, and combinations thereof. By selectively controlling the particular nature of each antiviral agent and their relative concentration, the present inventors have discovered that a synergistic affect can be achieved in which the disinfectant composition is capable of exhibiting an antiviral efficacy against non-enveloped viruses.

摘要: Pre-moistened wiping articles are provided comprising a fibrous web impregnated with a liquid cleaning composition including an unstable dispersion of water, surfactant, and water insoluble polysaccharide particles such as natural starch and/or microcrystalline cellulose. Due to the instability of the dispersion the particles primarily reside on the surface of the fibers forming the fibrous web and are freely released from the web as a result of the mechanical and hydraulic forces associated with use of the article. The pre-moistened wiping articles are suitable for use in personal care applications including use as perineal wipes. Embodiments of the invention further include methods of making pre-moistened wiping articles comprising a fibrous web impregnated with the unstable dispersion.
