摘要: A split-night sleep diagnostic system is provided for diagnosing and treating sleep apnea in a single night. The diagnostic system includes a blower, a respiratory interface and a conduit connected between the blower and the respiratory interface. Also included is a valve disposed along the conduit. The valve includes an aperture formed in the conduit between the blower and the respiratory interface, and a valve member movable between a first position partially occluding the conduit so that air flows through the aperture and a second position blocking the aperture so that continuous positive airway pressure is provided to a patient. Both diagnosis and titration can be performed using a single system at a single location over the course of a single night.

摘要: A plurality of flow sensors are fabricated on a single substrate. The substrate is laid out to provide the proper physical relationship of the individual sensors. The resulting multiple sensor structure may be effectively used as a respiration detector by positioning a different sensor element at each of the airflow orifices (i.e., two nostrils and mouth) of a patient. In the preferred embodiment, the sensors are thermoresistive elements, which are screened on the substrate using conductive ink. The change in temperature of the air flow in relation to the ambient at each orifice provides an indication of the flow and may be used to determine the extent of the flow. The substrate is packaged in a single piece adhesive strip which provides ease of proper attachment by the patient.

摘要: The present invention provides a memory chip for use in an oximeter sensor, or an associated adapter or connector circuit. The memory chip allows the storing of different data to provide enhanced capabilities for the oximeter sensor. In addition to providing unique data to store in such a memory, the present invention describes unique uses of data stored in such a memory. The data stored in the memory chip includes data that can be used by an oximeter to determine if the sensor is adequately attached to the patient, data that indicates sensor assembly characteristics that can be used to correct for variations in optical efficiency, data that can provide compensation for infrared wavelength shifts caused by optical fiber, data relating to additional LEDs in the sensor, data indicating the last time the sensor was moved or disconnected, and data indicating whether the sensor is isolated.

摘要: Systems, apparatus, and methods for providing humidity in a positive airway pressure (PAP) device. In one embodiment, a humidifier is configured to periodically provide vapor to a flow of pressurized gas to produce flows of pressurized gas with added humidity. Each of the flows of pressurized gas with added humidity may be timed to reach a user interface primarily during a first portion of a breath cycle (e.g., during inspiration). Portions of the flow of pressurized gas that reach the user interface during a second portion of the breath cycle (e.g., during expiration) may include little or no added humidity.

摘要: The present inventions provide respiratory therapy apparatus that introduce water into the pressurized air delivered to a user during various positive airway pressure therapies and corresponding methods. The respiratory therapy apparatus may be configured to administer one or more positive airway pressure therapies, including: continuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP), bi-level positive airway pressure therapy (BPAP), auto positive airway pressure therapy (autoPAP), proportional positive airway pressure therapy (PPAP), and/or other positive airway pressure therapies. The respiratory therapy apparatus may include a user interface that defines an interface passage to communicate pressurized air to the user for inhalation and a humidifier that introduces water into the pressurized air generally at the interface passage. Methods according to the present inventions may include introducing water into the interface passage at one or more humidifier ports disposed about the interface passage.
