Abstract: A vehicle occupant warning system includes a receiver, an electronic controller and a mitigation device. The receiver is disposed onboard a host vehicle and is configured to receive remote vehicle information representing a travel condition of a remote vehicle. The electronic is controller configured to determine whether the remote vehicle will pass adjacent a side of the host based on the remote vehicle information. The mitigation device is configured to perform a mitigation operation to prevent an occupant of the host vehicle from exiting the host vehicle when instructed by the electronic controller.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for use in traversing a vehicle transportation network may include determining a stabilized codeword indicating whether an expected path for the remote vehicle and an expected path for the host vehicle are convergent based on the host vehicle information, the remote vehicle information, and a reference direction, wherein a false negative incorrectly indicating that the expected path for the remote vehicle and the expected path for the host vehicle are divergent on a condition that a difference between a remote vehicle heading angle for the remote vehicle and a reference direction is within a heading approximation offset threshold, is identified as convergent. Traversing a vehicle transportation network may include traversing a portion of the vehicle transportation network in response to the stabilized codeword.

Abstract: Operating a host vehicle is described as including identifying remote vehicle information indicating a geospatial state and a kinematic state for a remote vehicle and identifying host vehicle information indicating a geospatial state and a kinematic state for the host vehicle. For a sequence of sampling points, a converging time to a converging location within a transportation network is determined based on the remote vehicle information and the host vehicle information. Operation of the host vehicle is modified to a modified operation responsive the converging time, having been above a first threshold, failing below the first threshold, and the modified operation of the host vehicle is maintained until the converging time remains above a second threshold higher than the first threshold for a defined number of contiguous sampling points of the sequence. A method, vehicle, and apparatus are described.

An expected host vehicle route for the host vehicle is determined in response to generating the projected vehicle transportation network information representing the curved path, and the host vehicle traverses the curved path using the expected host vehicle route.

Abstract: A vehicle intersection monitoring method includes exchanging host and remote vehicle information including information pertaining to host and remote vehicle locations and headings, respectively, and determining whether the host and remote vehicles are travelling on converging paths based on the host vehicle and/or remote vehicle information.
