Abstract:
A semiconductor module has a pair of semiconductor devices, a heat sink, a first electrode, an output electrode and a second electrode. The semiconductor devices are connected in series with each other and have first terminals that are electrically connected to a first power system and a second terminal that is electrically connected to a second power system. The first electrode is electrically connected both to one of the first terminal and to an electrode of one of the semiconductor devices. The output electrode is electrically connected both to the second terminal and to an electrode of the other of the semiconductor device. The second electrode is electrically connected to the other of the first terminals. The second electrode is connected to the heat sink via a first insulating member. The output electrode is connected to the second electrode via a second insulating member.
Abstract:
A switching circuit includes: a first switching element (Q1); a resistor (11) inserted between a control electrode (G) of the first switching element (Q1) and a control circuit (13) switching the first switching element (Q1); and a first capacitor (15) and a second switching element (14) connected in series between the control electrode (G) of the first switching element (Q1) and a low potential-side electrode (S) of the first switching element (Q1). A high potential-side electrode of the second switching element (14) is connected to the control electrode (G) of the first switching element (Q1). An electrode of the first capacitor (15) is connected to the low potential-side electrode (S) of the first switching element (Q1). A control electrode of the second switching element (14) is connected to an electrode of the resistor (11) connected to the control circuit (13).
Abstract:
A method and apparatus updates software data for an interface unit that interfaces a portable audio/video player with another audio/video system. When the portable audio/video players are updated by adding new features, etc., the method and apparatus enables the users to obtain the corresponding update file for the interface unit in the same manner that the user obtains the music file. Thus, the user can easily and quickly obtain the update file for updating the interface unit and store it in the portable audio/video player in the same manner as the music files. For executing the update operation, the user selects the update file from the play list and starts playing the update file on the portable audio/video player while connecting it to the interface unit.

Abstract:
A MOS type SiC semiconductor device having high reliability and a longer lifespan against TDDB of a gate oxide film is disclosed. The semiconductor device includes a MOS (metal-oxide-semiconductor) structure having a silicon carbide (SiC) substrate, a polycrystalline Si gate electrode, a gate oxide film interposed between the SiC substrate and the polycrystalline Si gate electrode and formed by thermally oxidizing a surface of the SiC substrate, and an ohmic contact electrically contacted with the SiC substrate. The semiconductor device further includes a polycrystalline Si thermally-oxidized film formed by oxidizing a surface of the polycrystalline Si gate electrode. The gate oxide film has a thickness of 20 nm or less, preferably 15 nm or less.

Abstract:
A vehicle navigation system copes with the situation when the vehicle deviates from a guided route (is off-route) and it is desired to reach the destination efficiently, i.e. with the least travel distance. The system determines the most efficient route to return to the guided route by analyzing the shortest distance between the current vehicle position and an unpassed road intersection on the original guided route, by searching for unpassed intersections on the original guided route within a particular radius of the current off-route vehicle position. The vehicle speed and heading angle are also used to determine the search radius, to find the shortest return route to the original guided route.
Abstract:
A method of shutting down a fuel cell system includes a first step of supplying hydrogen gas and air to a fuel cell stack to thereby cause the fuel cell stack to generate electricity, and a second step of stopping supply of the hydrogen gas, and then supplying air to the fuel cell stack so as to cause the fuel cell stack to generate electricity upon detection of a command to shut down the fuel cell stack. In the second step, when the pressure of the hydrogen gas is lowered to a preset lower-limit value based on an anode pressure, which actually is measured, the fuel cell stack is caused to stop generating electricity.
