Abstract:
A polymer composition containing cellulose acetate in combination with one or more bloom resistant or bio-based plasticizers and optionally one or more bio-based polymers is described. The polymer composition is formulated so as to have properties similar to petroleum-based polymers for producing, for example, single-use biodegradable articles.

Abstract:
Polyarylene sulfide compositions are described that exhibit high strength and flexibility. Methods for forming the polyarylene sulfide compositions are also described. Formation methods include dynamic vulcanization of a polyarylene sulfide composition that includes an impact modifier dispersed throughout the polyarylene sulfide. A crosslinking agent is combined with the other components of the composition following dispersal of the impact modifier throughout the composition. The crosslinking agent reacts with the impact modifier to form crosslinks within and among the polymer chains of the impact modifier. The compositions can exhibit excellent physical characteristics at extreme temperatures and can be used to form, e.g., tubular member such as pipes and hoses and fibers.
Abstract:
A fabric that contains a blend of textile and polyarylene sulfide fibers is provided. At least a portion of the textile fibers, polyarylene sulfide fibers, or a combination thereof are coated with an emulsion copolymer that is crosslinked. The copolymer composition is cured after it is applied to the fibers to initiate the formation of crosslink bonds between the emulsion copolymer and create a three-dimensional network that is capable of coating and encapsulating the fibers. It is believed that this three-dimensional network is able to physically entrap disperse additives when applied to the fibers. Still further, the present inventors have discovered that the emulsion copolymer can uniformly coat the fibers and thus readily receive the additive, which eliminates the need for high temperatures and/or pressures during a dyeing process, for example, and can also result in a relatively uniform coating of the additive on the fibers.

A fluid filter, with a media body that comprises granular filter media and is capable of transitioning from a compacted state to an expanded state, may allow for multiple filtration cycles with regeneration of the granular filter media via backwashing cycles. Two or more of such filters may also be used in filtration apparatuses that is configured for continuous filtration including during backwashing of one of the filters.

A polymer composition that includes an aromatic polyester and an inorganic filler dispersed within the polymer matrix that includes inorganic particles and optionally inorganic fibers is provided. The inorganic filler is present in an amount of from about 60 parts to about 200 parts by weight of the polymer matrix and the inorganic particles are present in an amount of from about 40 to about 200 parts by weight of the polymer matrix. The polymer composition exhibits an in-plane thermal conductivity of about 1.5 W/m-K or more as and a melt flow rate of from about 0.1 to about 50 g/10 min.

A polymer composition containing cellulose acetate in combination with one or more impact modifiers is described. The polymer composition can also contain a plasticizer and a bio-based polymer in addition to the cellulose acetate. The polymer composition is formulated so as to have properties similar to petroleum-based polymers for producing, for example, single-use biodegradable articles.

A laminate for use in a circuit board is provided. The laminate comprises a conductive layer and a film positioned adjacent to the conductive layer. The film comprises a polymer composition that includes a liquid crystalline polymer and a hydrophobic material. The polymer composition exhibits a dielectric constant of about 5 or less and dissipation factor of about 0.05 or less at a frequency of 10 GHz.

Abstract:
Disclosed are porous elements that include sintered polymeric particles. The polymeric particles can be formed of a thermoplastic composition that includes a polyarylene sulfide. The polymeric particles sintered to form the porous elements have a very narrow size distribution. The porous elements can maintain their functionality and morphology even when utilized in high temperature applications.
