Abstract: In certain embodiments, a vial adaptor for removing liquid contents from a vial comprises a piercing member and a bag. The bag can be contained within the piercing member such that the bag is introduced to the vial when the vial adaptor is coupled with the vial. In some embodiments, the bag expands within the vial as liquid is removed from the vial via the adaptor, thereby regulating pressure within the vial. In other embodiments, a vial comprises a bag for regulating pressure within the vial as liquid is removed therefrom. In some embodiments, a vial adaptor is coupled with the vial. In order to remove the liquid. In some embodiments, as the liquid is removed from the vial via the adaptor, the bag expands within the vial, and in other embodiments, the bag contracts within the vial.

Abstract: Various aspects of the subject disclosure relate to a compounder system having a cartridge that includes fluid pathways controllable by valves of the cartridge. A pump component within the cartridge is actuable to move fluid through the controllable fluid pathways. The cartridge includes a needle extending from a cartridge body and fluidly coupled to at least one of the controllable fluid pathways. The cartridge includes a vacuum bellows that surrounds the needle when the bellows is in an extended configuration. The vacuum bellows is compressible to expose the needle and generates a vacuum condition within the bellows when the bellows is extended from a compressed configuration to the extended configuration. The needle may be a dual-lumen plastic needle.

Abstract: A pre-filled blow-fill-seal (BFS) vial can have a fluid seal at one end thereof that can be breached by a piercing element within a connector when a neck of the BFS vial is fully inserted into the connector. The piercing element can comprise or define one or more fluid conduits that allow fluid to flow from an interior of the BFS vial to an outlet port of the connector, thereby allowing the contents to be dispensed from the BFS vial. The connector can facilitate coupling of the BFS vial for subsequent administration of the contents therein to a patient. For example, the outlet port of the connector can be coupled to an administration assembly, such as a syringe, nozzle, intravenous (IV) therapy device, or another device.

Abstract: Methods for administration of injectable fluids and a vial adapter for use with an injector and a vial containing the fluid. The adapter includes a vial retainer, a spacing disc, and a spacing arm. The vial retainer is sized to receive at least a portion of the vial, the stopper and the stopper retainer of the vial. The spacing disc includes a needle insertion port, and is spaced a predetermined distance from the vial retainer by the spacing arm. A distance an injector needle inserted through the port may extend through the stopper is limited by contact of the injector with the spacing disc.

Abstract: A medication and identification information transfer system is provided that includes a primary medication container, a secondary medication container, a secondary container label and a medication information transfer apparatus. The medication information transfer apparatus, when coupled to the primary medication container, can transfer information indicative of the contents of the primary medication container to a medication delivery device such as an intelligent injection site. The medication information transfer apparatus has a shape and size enabling it to be connected to an adapter for removal of medication from the primary medication container which enables transfer of the medication to a secondary container while simultaneously transferring information about the medication in the primary medication container to the injection site. In some implementations, the medication injection site can be placed on a fluid delivery line for infusion into a patient. Related apparatus, systems, methods and kits are also disclosed.

Abstract: A method includes: depositing whole blood into at least one separator tube; subjecting the at least one separator tube to a first centrifugal force to cause a combination of the first centrifugal force and separator gel within each separator tube of the at least one separator tube to separate plasma of the whole blood from red and white blood cells of the whole blood within the at least one separator tube, wherein the plasma includes α2M molecules; transferring one or more portions of the plasma from within the at least one separator tube and into at least one isolator; and subjecting the at least one isolator to a second centrifugal force to cause a combination of the second centrifugal force and a filter within each isolator of the at least one isolator to isolate the α2M molecules from other components of the plasma within the at least one isolator.

Abstract: In one aspect, a combinatorial drug delivery device is provided for delivering a predetermined selection of drug components. The device includes a plurality of modules, each including: a body having an interior volume; a spike plate movably disposed in the interior volume, the spike plate having a protruding cannula and first and second ports. The device also includes a base tray which includes: a framework defining a plurality of wells, each of the wells formed to insertingly receive one of the modules; for each of the wells, first and second inlet ports formed to interface with the first and second ports of the module being received in the respective well; passageways to connect certain wells with adjacent wells to permit fluid flow therebetween. For each of the wells, the spike plate of the respective module being maintained in a stationary position with the module being inserted into the well.
