Abstract:
An apparatus having a bowl-shaped screen with a large opening at the upper end thereof and a smaller opening at the lower end thereof for screening annularly distributed influent. An influent manifold is located above the screen to distribute influent downwardly into the upper opening. An effluent receiver is positioned about the screen while a concentrate receiver is positioned below the lower opening of the screen. A distributor cone is positioned in the upper opening to direct influent outwardly and downwardly to the screen. The cone is vertically adjustable to vary the size of the annular opening between the cone and the screen. The cone is also rotatably mounted to aid in uniformity of distribution. A tangential influent feed is employed to induce rotation of the distribution cone. A rotatably mounted backspray manifold extends about the screen with nozzles directed to induce rotation of the manifold. A wiper blade extending to the lower opening of the screen is attached to the backspray manifold for inducing concentrate into the concentrate receiver.
Abstract:
A filter for removing particulate matter from a contaminated fluid. The filter includes a housing with an inlet for receiving the contaminated fluid and an outlet for releasing the filtered fluid. A sieve is mounted within the housing and includes perforations to allow both the passage of the contaminated fluid and collection of particulate matter from the filtered fluid. The filter further includes a turbine for rotating the sieve about a central axis and a spray bar mounted within the sieve. The rotation and spray removes particulate matter from the sieve for disposal.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved filtering system and method for filtering effluent water for use in irrigation and other applications. The improved filtering system offers significant advancements to the flow rate, efficiency, and reliability of effluent water filtration. The present invention provides systems and methods for filtering of effluent water with a multi-staged filter system, which are self-cleaning, requiring less down time and nearly continuous filtration function.
Abstract:
A method of repeatedly indicating to a user of an appliance that a water filter unit operably connected to the appliance has passed its useful life and a filter unit configure for use in connection with the method where the filter unit includes a fluid flow impeding system within a housing of the filter unit; engaging the filter unit with the appliance; measuring the volume of water treated by the filter unit; activating a fluid flow impeding system contained within the housing of the filter unit; and repeatedly indicating to a user that the maximum volume of water the filter unit has been designed to treat has been surpassed and the filter unit should be replaced by repeatedly delivering a normal flow rate of water from the dispenser of the appliance and thereafter slowing the flow of water from the dispenser of the appliance.
Abstract:
A filter apparatus utilizing pressurized reverse cleaning by a filter drum includes: a housing including an inlet and an outlet through which fluid enters and exits; a filtering means including a top plate and a bottom plate disposed apart at the top and bottom inside the housing and each forming a plurality of through holes in the circumferential direction thereof, wherein a plurality of filter drums formed in a cylindrical shape open at the top and bottom and have both ends coupled to the through holes of the top plate and the bottom plate so as to vertically communicate the plates, and wherein a filter element housed in each filter drum filters the fluid that enters; and a filter cleaning means including a supply pipe, a cylinder pressurizing the fluid and supplying the fluid to the lower portion of the supply pipe, an upper branch installed rotatably at the upper portion of the filter drum and defining a spray conduit therein , and a lower branch installed to rotate together with the upper branch and defining a discharge conduit therein.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a filter for fluids, in particular water, having a filter surface and a rotary spray arm contained in said filter, said arm conducting a flushing medium against the filter surface. To achieve an increase in the throughput capacity of the filter and to improve the flushing of the filter surface, the filter is equipped with a fluid-proof drum motor, which drives at least one spray arm.
Abstract:
Provided is a fluid filtration assembly including a housing configured with one or more filter units extending in fluid flow between a raw fluid inlet port and a filtered fluid outlet port, a filter rinsing assembly being in fluid communication with a rinsing fluid inlet port, and propulsion fluid inlet port being in flow communication with a propulsion mechanism for propelling one or both of the filter rinsing assembly and the filter unit with respect to one another. Further provided is a thread tensioning mechanism for controlling tension of coiled threads of a thread-type filtering cartridge.
Abstract:
Apparatus and methods include an improved filter and cleaning processes for same. A rotating cleaning element is actuated by vacuum pressure, and relatively precise controls ensure that all portions of the filter's surface are vacuumed cleaned during cleaning cycles. Longitudinal pressure on the rotating cleaning element is balanced to reduce wear and improve performance.
Abstract:
A self-cleaning system for use with a filter having a fluid inlet station, including (a) a manifold mountable at least for reciprocation along an axis with respect to said filter and comprising at least one suction opening adapted to be in proximity to said station and connectable to a suitable suction source for enabling foreign material to be removed from said filter when said system is installed and in operation with respect to said filter; (b) fluid powered motive means for propelling said manifold along said axis; and (c) a reciprocating mechanism for alternately changing the direction of motion of said manifold along said axis.
Abstract:
A fluid filtering device, comprises: a housing having a fluid inlet and a fluid outlet for the fluid to be filtered, and a flushing outlet for the dirt separated from the fluid; a supporting core extending longitudinally within the housing; a plurality of annular filter discs supported as a stack on the supporting core; and a pressure plate supported at one end of the stack, and movable in one longitudinal direction to tighten the stack by pressing the discs together, or in the opposite direction to loosen the stack. A cleaning nozzle is supported within the housing for movement along the length of the stack and has its axis oriented to apply a flushing fluid eccentrically to the discs, when the stack is loosened, to rotate the disc on the supporting core and thereby to flush the dirt particles therefrom through the flushing outlet.
