Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for producing a rim ring for a wheel rim, in particular for a wired-on wheel rim, with the following steps: providing an outer rim profile made of hardened composite fibrous material, providing a plastic shaping element, providing at least one top layer made of composite fibrous material, inserting the plastic shaping element radially within the outer rim profile, and positioning the top layer relative to the plastic shaping element and to the outer rim profile such that at least part of the top layer extends from the plastic shaping element onto the outside of the outer rim profile. The present invention further relates to a method for fastening spokes made of composite fibrous material to a rim ring. Finally, the present invention also relates to a rim ring, a wired-on wheel rim and a bicycle with wired-on wheel rims.

The present invention relates to a method for producing a rim ring for a tire rim, in particular for a wired-on tire rim, with the following steps: providing an outer rim profile made of hardened composite fibrous material, providing a plastic shaping element, providing at least one top layer made of composite fibrous material, inserting the plastic shaping element radially within the outer rim profile, and positioning the top layer relative to the plastic shaping element and to the outer rim profile such that at least part of the top layer extends from the plastic shaping element onto the outside of the outer rim profile. The present invention further relates to a method for fastening spokes made of composite fibrous material to a rim ring. Finally, the present invention also relates to a rim ring, a wired-on tire rim and a bicycle with wired-on tire rims.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel and overlay assembly having an overlay that extends radially outward to cover substantially the entire outboard surface of the wheel, without wrapping around the periphery of the wheel. The assembly includes a wheel having a flangeless or minimum functional flange height rim flange or alternatively a truncated rim flange that terminates in a flange lip having a radially outermost edge. An overlay is attached to and closely contours the wheel outboard surface and radially terminates in a peripheral flange that has a peripheral lip with a radially outermost edge that is aligned with the outermost edge of the wheel flange lip within a predetermined circumferential margin so that the peripheral flange covers at least a portion of the wheel flange lip. This configuration gives the visible impression that this is a one-piece wheel, where the outboard surface of the overlay appears to be the outboard surface of the wheel, and not a separate component.
Abstract:
A novel one piece wheel rim for a pneumatic tire is provided. This wheel rim includes a pair of axially spaced tapered bead seats, a tire retaining flange located axially outward of each bead seat, and a tire fitting well located between the bead seats. One flange has a reduced height portion having a length of 0.25 to 0.5 times the bead seat circumference. The reduced height is such that the flange height, measured from its heel point, which is the point of intersection of the nominal diameter and the nominal wheel width, is in the range of 0.15 and 0.6 times the height of the remainder of the tire. This construction permits easy tire fitting and removal. The well also provides increased brake space.
Abstract:
Wheel for vehicles having a rim element and a wheel disk, the rim being of asymmetrical construction with one narrower and one broader side relative to a dropped base, the broader side having a substantially cylindrical portion, the rim element having flanges bent toward the axis of the wheel; the wheel disk having a peripheral portion of cylindrical configuration that extends axially and matches said cylindrical portion in fitting configuration and being welded thereto.
Abstract:
Bicycle rims that allow tires to be more easily mounted in a tubeless configuration are disclosed. More specifically, a bicycle rim may control the two beads of the tire with separate bead channels for each bead and a center bridge extending between the two bead channels.
Abstract:
A cycle wheel with an axis of rotation and having a median plane perpendicular to the axis, the wheel comprising a rim and a pneumatic tire, in which: the rim includes an upper bridge and at least one left lateral flange extending from the upper bridge and extending radially outward so as to move away from the axis, the upper bridge including a stop positioned on the same side as the left lateral flange in relation to the median plane, so that the left lateral flange and the stop demarcate a left channel, the left channel having, along a radial plane, an opening having an amplitude, a length greater than the opening, the pneumatic tire comprising a casing and at least one non-deformable left bead which, along a radial plane, has a length, a thickness less than the length of the bead, the length of the bead being greater than the amplitude of the opening, the thickness of the bead being less than or equal to the amplitude of the opening; the surface area of the bead cross section being less than the surface area of the channel cross section, and the bead having a transverse modulus between 50 Mpa and 2000 Mpa.
Abstract:
A light alloy wheel having excellent longitudinal and lateral rigidities is provided. The present invention is a light alloy wheel 10 for a vehicle provided with a disk portion 6 and an inner rim portion 8 erected along a circumferential edge of the disk portion 6, wherein the inner rim portion 8 includes a well portion 11 erected vertically along the circumferential edge of the disk portion 6, a rim middle portion 12 continuous with the well portion 11, and an inner rim flange portion 13 connected to a junction portion 15 at a distal end of the rim middle portion 12, the inner rim flange portion 13 includes an outer circumferential flange 13a extending outward from the junction portion 15, and an inner circumferential flange 13b extending inward from the junction portion 15, and a circumferential edge of the outer circumferential flange 13a is bent in an axial direction of the light alloy wheel.
Abstract:
A rim for a bicycle wheel with tubeless tire comprises a radially inner peripheral wall, a radially outer peripheral wall, two circumferential side walls which connect the inner and outer peripheral walls and form two ribs which extend beyond the outer peripheral wall, for anchorage of a tubeless tire. The inner and outer peripheral walls have two holes facing one another, within which an intermediate tubular element is mounted, connected to which is a valve body of a standard type normally used for bicycle wheels provided with inner tubes.
