摘要: An active suspension apparatus is provided for a vehicle which includes an actuator being extensible and retractable and provided between a vehicle body and a wheel so that the force of the vehicle body to support the wheel is adjustable, a sprung G sensor or a vehicle height sensor for detecting a vibration input to the vehicle body, and a control valve and a controller for controlling the supporting force of the actuator in accordance with the vibration input detected by the sprung G sensor or the vehicle height sensor, and thereby restraining the stroke of the actuator. The suspension apparatus further comprises a forward road surface sensor for detecting the size of irregularities of a road surface in front of the vehicle, and the control valve and the controller are adapted to execute normal control such that the equivalent spring constant of the actuator is adjusted to a first spring constant when a surface irregularity of a size larger than a predetermined size is detected by the forward road surface sensor, and to execute inverse spring control such that the equivalent spring constant of the actuator is adjusted to a second spring constant lower than the first spring constant, and thereby lengthening the stroke of the wheel, when no surface irregularity of a size larger than the predetermined size is detected by the forward road surface sensor. As a result, the ride is greatly improved when the vehicle runs on a smooth road.

摘要: A damping device operable to change a suspension characteristic of a vehicle in response to changes in a relative relationship between the piston and the cylinder of the damping device. The damping device comprising a pressure cylinder forming a working chamber operable to store damping fluid. A piston is disposed within the pressure cylinder defining an upper and lower portion of the working chamber. The damping device further comprises a transducer for emitting and receiving sound waves within the lower portion of the working chamber. The sound waves emitted by said transducer are reflected by the end surface of the cylinder or a base valve mounted at the end of the cylinder and are received by said transducer. A timing circuit determines the difference in time between the emitted and reflected sound waves and generates an output in response thereto. A central processor calculates the desired relative relationship, such as the relative distance between the piston and the base valve, from the output of the timing circuit.

摘要: A continuously active pressure accumulator power transfer system for a vehicle or the like comprises an engine, a pump driven by the engine, a main pressure accumulator maintained at a substantially constant fluid pressure and fluid volume by the pump during operation, a fluid motor for propelling the vehicle which is supplied with driving fluid pressure from the main pressure accumulator and a second pressure accumulator at a lower pressure then the main accumulator for supplying fluid to at least one vibration isolation mount. A road contour detector, sonar or radar, sends signals to a microprocessor for adjusting the accumulator pressure in the second accumulator where load support vibration isolation mounts in communication with the second accumulator are employed to reduce road induced vibration during vehicle travel.

摘要: A direct acting hydraulic damper comprising an internal, non-contact sensing means for the direct measurement of relative velocity between the piston and the cylinder of the damper. The damper comprising a cylinder forming a working chamber operable to store damping fluid. A piston is disposed within the cylinder defining an upper and lower portion of the working chamber. The damper further comprises a first transducer for emitting ultrasonic waves within the lower portion of the working chamber. The ultrasonic waves emitted by said first transducer are reflected by a base valve or end surface of the cylinder facing the transducers and are received by a second transducer. A frequency detection circuit determines the difference in frequency between the emitted and reflected ultrasonic waves and generates an output in response thereto. A computer then calculates the relative velocity of the piston with respect to the base valve or end surface, based on the Doppler principle. The velocity signal is then used for automatic control of suspension parameters according to predefined algorithm.
