Abstract: An automated coupling mechanism for sliding doors that are movably mounted upon a storage unit. The coupling mechanism may comprise a rotating mechanism comprising a rotating member, and connecting unit. The storage unit may comprise at least one outer sliding door and at least one inner sliding door comprising an upper track, where the connecting unit connect the rotating mechanism to the outer sliding door. The rotating member and the track may be made from material of substantially high friction coefficient to enable the rotating member to move the inner sliding door along the track when rotated. The connecting unit, which are connect the rotating mechanism to the outer sliding door, may enable the outer sliding door to move in the opposite direction of the inner sliding door, whereby the inner sliding door is moved by the rotating mechanism as a physical counteraction.

Abstract: A drive system drives a pulley along a curved track to open and close a sliding vehicle door. The pulley is pivotally mounted to the sliding door to permit the pulley to pivot during traverse of the curved portion of the track. An electric motor driven pulley remotely drives the pulley through a drive belt. In operation, as the pulley pivots during traverse of the curved portion of the track, the drive belt twists. Torque transfer between pulleys is maintained during twisting of the drive belt which thereby permits an uncomplicated yet effective system for driving the sliding door along the curved portion of track. Another drive system transmits torque to pulley through a drive shaft which rotates during traverse of the curved portion of track.

Abstract: An automotive vehicle body has a side opening that is opened and closed by a sliding door. The door is operated with a power drive mechanism that is pivotally mounted thereon and extends through the side opening. The power drive mechanism includes a reversible electric motor driven friction drive wheel and is spring biased to forcibly engage this wheel with a drive/guide track that is located beneath the vehicle floor and attached to the vehicle body. The friction drive wheel rides on the drive/guide track to open and close the door and also helps guide and stabilize its sliding movement. The spring load on the friction drive wheel is limited so as to provide sliding door operation with the motor under normal conditions and allow slippage at the friction drive wheel to cease door movement when the door encounters a physical object in the door opening.

Abstract: A detention cell locking system affording improved securement and reliability in the locking network of multiple detention cell doors. Mechanical actuation linkages are interconnected for motion responsive to either select manual, mechanical, or electrical signals actuating a DC motor drive. The locking mechanism incorporates an elongate toggle plate mounted to a carriage plate and a pair of cell door support rollers forming part of a mechanical locking system. The toggle plate assembly on the carriage plate permits a turning moment to be generated for lost motion actuation which effects locking and unlocking of the detention cell doors. A control network determines the length of time that the DC motor is electrically actuated and disengages the power to the motor during manual mechanical actuation.

Abstract: A security enclosure includes an access gate comprising at least one rigid barrier which can be retracted or advanced by remotely-actuated power means for opening and closing the gate. A support and drive structure which supports the driven end of the barrier includes upper drive means which provide positive drive connections to an upper surface of the barrier through downward pressure on at least two laterally-separated points and corresponding lower drive means which provide positive drive connections to a lower surface of the barrier and support the barrier on at least two laterally-separated points, with the upper and lower drive means being driven by a common power source and connecting drive means to open and close the gate. Remote switching means are provided to operate the drive means and latch means to open and close the gate. The upper and lower drive means can be rollers driven by belt drives. The barrier and/or fence can include framework structures of tubular stock, the tubes being interconnected to permit the insertion of reinforcing cables.
