Abstract: An enhanced broadcast data service with reports locations of traffic enforcement camera locations (e.g., red light cameras and speed cameras) to users. Traffic enforcement camera information is aggregated, verified (e.g., particularly as to traffic enforcement camera type) and stored (e.g., at a server). A broadcast signal comprising program channels and at least one data channel having traffic enforcement camera information is transmitted to a plurality of receivers. Receivers store at least a subset of the traffic enforcement camera information available from the server and synchronize to it using periodic transmitted updates. Receivers compare receiver location data with stored camera location data, and display or generate audible alerts when the receiver is within a selected geographic range of a traffic enforcement camera. Alerts can be filtered as to camera type. A alerts can employ different color camera icons superimposed on a screen map depending on camera type or whether the camera is newly added.

Abstract: A communication terminal includes a touch panel provided with a display device and an input device. Abstract: Methods and systems are provided. One system is of a vehicle for processing communication with connected objects. The processing by the system uses a processor of the vehicle and processing and data from one or more servers of a cloud system. The connected objects include objects having communication capabilities that are either fixed at specific locations as infrastructure proximate to where the vehicle is located or locations proximate to where the vehicle is moving. The system includes a global positioning system of the vehicle for generating geo-location for the vehicle and a heading direction. The geo-location is configured to be shared with a server of the cloud system using a communications device of the vehicle. The server of the cloud system is configured to receive the geo-location of the vehicle to identify the heading direction of the vehicle. The communications device of the vehicle is configured receive state data from at least one of said connected objects that are proximate in location relative to the vehicle or are along the heading direction of the vehicle. The processor is one of a plurality of processors of on-board electronics, and the processor is configured to execute instructions that processes data associated with of said heading direction of the vehicle and updates in state data received from connected objects. The processing is configured to cause initiation of an action by a subsystem of the vehicle. In one example, the action by the subsystem of the vehicle is to produce a safety warning notification presented on a display of the vehicle or an automatic action by the vehicle for safety.

Abstract: This invention involves the effect of multiple rules of the road at different elevation profiles on the speed constraints and therefore the overall fuel efficiency. A vehicle designed to optimize fuel consumption that is comprised of the rules of the road that determine maximum speed, minimum speed, stop signs, streetlights, and/or changes in other rules that determine the allowable speeds of the road, a localization mechanism, and an optimization engine to optimize the fuel economy by selecting a speed profile within that maintains the vehicle within the assigned range of speeds and minimizes fuel consumption. A wide variety of methods that typically are used to optimize the fuel efficiency of human drivers operating standard vehicles can also be applied towards autonomous vehicles driving at different speed constraints and with different changes in the elevation.

Abstract: A database of high risk locations is formed and high risk causal factors for the high risk locations determined. Driver behavior is monitored at the sites in the database using data collection devices such as electronic logging devices or mobile phones to see if the drivers exhibit the same specific behaviors that are considered contributing factors to specific accident types at risk of occurrence at those sites. Warnings are provided to drivers approaching the specific sites to prompt behavioral changes which may further be monitored by the data collection devices.

Abstract: A monitoring system for a vehicle can use one or more sensors to monitor a condition external to a vehicle while a driver is operating the vehicle and the vehicle is temporarily stopped. The system can detect a change in the condition external to the vehicle and transmit a signal wirelessly to a computing device of the driver, which can cause the computing device to output an alert indicating the change in the condition external to the vehicle.
