    摘要: Files associated with the operation of gateway and client devices in a network may be downloaded with minimal operator intervention. Accordingly, a method includes receiving data including a first file, a first authentication element, and a second authentication element, the first authentication element being unique to a client device associated with the gateway device. The method also includes determining if the second authentication element is valid for the gateway device and storing the first authentication element and the second file for the client device if the second authentication element is valid for the gateway device. An apparatus includes a receiver that receives data, a processor that determines if the second authentication element is valid for the gateway device, and a memory that stores the first authentication element and a portion of the data for the client device if the second authentication element is valid for the gateway device.

    摘要: The invention provides, in some aspects, a digital commerce system that includes a first digital data device, a second digital data device and a third digital data device, each of which is connected to a network that provides at least intermittent communications coupling between the second digital data device and each of the first and second digital data devices. Redirection logic executing on at least the second digital data device effects storage on the third digital data device of a digital media object downloaded from the first digital data device to the second digital data device. The redirection logic accomplishes that in such a manner that storage of the digital media object on the third digital data device is effected before storage of that digital media object on the second digital data device—if the digital media object is stored to the second digital data device at all. In related aspects of the invention, redirection logic executing on at least the second digital data device circumvents storage of the downloaded digital media object at least until that object has been stored on the third digital data device.

    摘要: A routing controller in a communication network may be responsible for issuing routing rules to forwarding devices in the network. Exemplary embodiments allow forwarding functionality to be implemented by the forwarding devices in a device-specific manner. The routing controller may specify a routing rule to be implemented by the forwarding device, and may provide a default or suggested implementation of the function in the specification of the rule. If the forwarding device does not have a predetermined implementation of the function that is specific to the routing device, the forwarding device may use the default implementation provided by the routing controller. However, if the forwarding device does have a predetermined implementation of the function, the forwarding device may override the implementation described in the specification and use the predetermined implementation instead.

    摘要: A method, system, and medium are provided for a computer system for downloading an application from a computing client onto a mobile information device through wireless telecommunications. An application is located from a multitude of resources available on the World Wide Web through the Internet. After an application is selected from a particular resource, it is uploaded onto the computing client. A web server receives this uploaded application by means of the Internet. Another server is used as an intermediate communications device to receive notification from the web server of the available uploaded application. This intermediate communications server notifies the mobile device by way of wireless telecommunications of a pending application that is ready for downloading onto the mobile device. The mobile device user downloads the application, which is also accomplished via wireless telecommunications.

    摘要: In an example embodiment, a delivery unit comprises a plurality of objects. The delivery unit is encapsulated within a transport container for delivery to an entity for installation. As new versions of the objects are created by modifying the source code, the modified versions of objects are included in the delivery unit along with unmodified versions of the remaining objects of the delivery unit. The modified versions of the objects are marked for installation, while the unmodified versions are not marked for installation. Upon installation, the objects marked for installation are extracted from the delivery unit while the objects not marked for installation are discarded. The extracted objects are then installed, thus updating any previous versions of the objects, while unmodified objects are not installed. In one representative embodiment, objects are procedures of a database system, which may be organized hierarchically into folders.

    摘要: Embodiments herein generally provide techniques for upgrading a virtual router (VR) comprising first and second physical routers used to route data between network devices. Before upgrade the first physical router, one or more ports of the router are disabled which causes data paths previously flowing through the first router to flow through the second router. After performing the upgrade, the first router is rebooted and uses a unique router ID to discover the network topology of an external network coupled to the VR. Once the network topology is identified, the first router activates a routing application (e.g., a BGP routing application) which enables the router to process control plane traffic received from the second router. Once routing information is gathered, the first router is able to assume the responsibility of forwarding data packets in the network, thereby freeing the second router to be upgraded.
