Abstract:
A method for metering active ingredient in powder form onto a predetermined area is characterized in that the active ingredient is transferred as electrically charged powder to a roll with the opposite charge, the active ingredient transferred to the roll is transferred to a two-dimensional substrate with an electric charge opposite to the active ingredient, the active ingredient transferred to the substrate is fixed by means of a heat treatment.
Abstract:
A coating system for in-situ coating of a surface formed by a plurality of plasterboard sections comprises a dry powder composition which is dispersible in an aqueous applicator medium and provides a very high quality surface finish to which gloss or matt paint may be applied directly without joint photographing or show-through of fasteners. The coating composition may be applied by a spray coating technique or a roller technique. The dry powder composition comprises calcium carbonate and, by weight, relative to calcium carbonate, from 4% to 11% of a polymeric binder, from 0.60% to 1.5% of a thickening agent and from 0.10% to 0.35% of a surfactant.
Abstract:
Liquid dispersion A containing a thermosetting resin and a solid lubricant is applied to the inner surface of half bearing 1 by pad printing and then cured by heating to form lubricating film layer 4 of the inner surface of half bearing 1, where liquid dispersion A is pressed onto the inner surface of half bearing 1 by pad 7, whereby the density is made higher to increase the bond strength and improve the wear resistance and the cavitation resistance.
Abstract:
Broadly, a paint roller kit includes a paint roller formed from an annular applicator, which surmounts a single interior annular core. The applicator has a central valley for forming a pair of spaced-apart applicator heads. Each applicator head is capable of being simultaneously dipped into different colored paint for creating two-color paint finishes. Advantageously, the applicators are spaced-apart to reveal the core. Preferably, the thickness of each of the applicator heads is at least about 0.5 inches and can range upwards to at least about 0.75 inches or more and be quite useful in use. The paint roller kit also includes a roller pan having a central divider for forming a pair of paint reservoirs adapted to be simultaneously accessed by the applicator heads. The depth of the valley is at least as great as the height of the pan divider.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for transferring ink, varnish or adhesive during laminating or printing, particularly flexographic printing, operates with a roller in the form of a smooth roller for transferring the material from the smooth roller to a substrate. A plurality of spray modules arranged next to each other and individually controllable is provided for spraying the material onto one or more cylindrical portions of the smooth roller. A doctor blade is arranged following the point of transfer of the material as seen in the direction of rotation of the smooth roller.
Abstract:
A combination plumber's caddy and cans of adhesive cement and primer includes a relatively thin, rectangular panel having a first end and a second end. The first end is folded toward and secured to a middle portion of the panel to form a first pocket. A first can of adhesive cement is releasably positioned in the first pocket. The second end is folded toward and secured to a tangent side of the portion of the panel forming the first pocket to form a second pocket. A second can of adhesive primer is releasably positioned in the second pocket. The first and second pockets are open on one end and partially closed on an opposite end to support the cans. A handle extends from at least one of the first or second pockets for carrying the caddy and the cans.
Abstract:
A process and system for applying an adhesive to a core during the production of rolled paper products is disclosed. The system of the present invention is generally directed to the use of pumping devices that meter out constant volumetric amounts of an adhesive onto a core through a plurality of adhesive applicators simultaneously. The systems includes, for instance, a positive displacement pump system in which a fluid at substantially constant pressure is fed to a pumping device for dispensing the adhesive to a plurality of adhesive applicators in constant volumetric amounts.
Abstract:
An improved process for applying a multi-component composite coating composition to a substrate is provided. The process includes the steps of roll applying to the substrate a colored film-forming composition to form a base coat and applying to said base coat at least one clear film-forming composition to form at least one transparent top coat over the base coat. At least one of the clear film-forming compositions contains an effect pigment. Additionally, an improved process for applying a multi-component composite coating composition to a metal substrate is provided. The process may include the following steps: a) optionally contacting the substrate surface with a pretreatment composition; b) optionally applying a primer coating composition to the substrate surface; c) curing the primer coating composition if applied; d) roll applying to the substrate a colored film-forming composition to form a base coat; e) curing the base coat; f) applying to at least a portion of said base coat at least one clear film-forming composition to form at least one transparent top coat over the base coat; and g) curing the at least one clear coat. At least one of the clear film-forming compositions contains an effect pigment. Substrates treated by the process of the present invention are suitable for use in the manufacturing of automotive parts, having automotive quality appearance.
Abstract:
A paint roller having a reservoir for holding paint is disclosed. The paint roller has a handle, an outer section connected to the handle that has openings in it and an inner section with a plurality of openings that fits concentrically within the outer section. The outer section and the inner section can be rotated relative to each other so that the openings in the outer section and in the inner section align in varying degrees so as to meter the amount of paint dispersed from the reservoir. An edger can also fit on the end of the paint roller. The invention also includes a tray with a depression suitable for storing the paint roller and which may be turned over and utilized to support the paint roller while the paint roller is filled with paint.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a method for producing a high gloss coating on a printed surface. In the present method, an aqueous coating composition is deposited onto a surface to be printed using a blanket roller coating face which is a low energy, non-stick, smooth surface profile. In the present method, simultaneous with the deposition of aqueous coating onto a substrate, or shortly thereafter, pressure either alone or in combination with heat may be applied to the coating in order to create a substantially tack-free surface conforming to the surface of the coating face. By using a highly polished coating face, high gloss coatings may be readily obtained using this methodology in a number of traditional printing techniques including wet trap inline sheet-fed printing, heat-set offset printing, dry trap inline flexographic printing, offset web-fed printing and gravure printing. Coatings which are produced utilizing the present invention have high gloss values heretofore unobtainable using aqueous coating compositions.
