    摘要: An optical module apparatus and method operates at high temperatures. The apparatus has a first printed circuit board with optoelectronics and electronics located on a thermoelectric cooler. The thermoelectric cooler is located on a second printed circuit board that also has electronics that control the thermoelectric cooler separately mounted thereon. The optical module operates at substantially higher temperatures by placing the optoelectronics and the electronics, not including the thermoelectric cooler controller, on the thermoelectric cooler. The electronics controlling the thermoelectric cooler only require relatively simple, low-speed electronics that are implemented in integrated circuit technologies. The integrated circuit electronics may operate at very high temperatures (200° C. or higher) thereby making control of the thermoelectric cooler with uncooled electronics possible.

    摘要: A color tunable lighting assembly (100), a light source and a luminaire are provided. The color tunable lighting assembly (100) comprises a light emitter (110), a luminescent layer (108) and a temperature controlling means (106). The light emitter (110) emits light (112) of a first color distribution. The luminescent layer (108) receives light (112) emitted by the light emitter (110). The luminescent layer (108) comprises luminescent material to absorb a portion of the light (112) of the first color distribution and to convert a portion of the absorbed light into light (102) of a second color distribution. The second color distribution is dependent on the temperature of the luminescent layer (108). The temperature controlling means (106) actively controls a temperature of the luminescent layer (108) to obtain a light emission by the color tunable lighting assembly. The light emission has a specific color distribution.

    摘要: A light assembly includes a substantially closed housing, a light source, a thermoelectric device, and a moisture expulsion device. The housing is defines a chamber, and includes a lens. The light source is adapted to direct light from the chamber and through the lens. The thermoelectric device includes a cold side and a hot side. The cold side is adapted to form condensation from moisture in the chamber. The moisture expulsion device includes a first segment in contact with the hot side and adapted to receive thermal heat from the hot side, and a second segment in contact with the first segment and exposed to an external environment for dissipation of moisture. The second segment is adapted to receive thermal heat from the first segment, and condensate from the cold side.

    摘要: A wideband light source includes multiple light sources enclosed within a butterfly package. The butterfly package includes light sources of different types such as a plurality of SLEDs and a plurality of laser diodes. Other types of broadband and narrow band light sources may be included on the same butterfly package in a similar manner. The emitted light from each light source is collimated via a collimating lens and directed towards an optical fiber using a mirror. Each light source produces light in a different spectral range, and the collimated beams from the various light sources are combined into a joined broadband beam by a plurality of corresponding dichroic mirrors. The broadband beam is coupled into a single mode or polarization maintaining fiber which serves as the optical output from the butterfly package. A processor monitors the power output of each light source drives each light source to ensure stability.
