The invention relates to a security document (30″), to a method for producing a security document (30″), and to a method for producing an individualized security document (30″). The security document (30″) has a carrier substrate (1) with a carrier layer (10) and a thermosensitive coating (11) which can be caused to change color by the action of heat, in particular by means of a thermal print head (911). The security document (30″) further has a film element (2), which is transparent at least in areas and which has at least one decorative layer (24, 25) with at least one optical security feature (51, 52), and an adhesive layer (3). The adhesive layer (3) is arranged between the film element (2) and the carrier substrate (1). The thermosensitive coating (11) is arranged between the adhesive layer (3) and the carrier layer (10). The film element (2) covers the thermosensitive coating (11) at least in areas when viewed perpendicularly to the plane spanned by the upper side of the carrier substrate.

To provide an information writable film that is chemical and abrasion resistance, and is suitable for high contrast white laser marking. The information writable film comprises a writable film layer 110 and a reading assistance layer 120. The writable film layer 110 is formed into a film shape by thinly stretching a material, which material is a mixture of a color former composition for coloring white when receiving the particular wavelength laser beam by changing its physical and chemical characteristic and a transparent plastic composition. The reading assistance layer 120 is provided enhancing the contrast ratio. The writable film layer 110 is provided with laser coloring properties and chemical and abrasion resistance. During writing, an identification code is written by laser by coloring the color former in the writable film layer 110. During reading, the contrast ratio is enhanced by superimposing the color of the reading assistance layer 120.
Abstract:
A multilayer laminate such as a label assembly having high opacity and desirable appearance characteristics is described. The laminate includes a facestock layer, an adhesive layer, and a liner layer. The facestock layer includes a print-receiving top coat layer that includes a combination of titanium dioxide and one or more optical brighteners. The combination of these materials avoids build up of static charges upon laser printing on the facestock.

A re-adherable adherent sheet with an inkjet, laser or digital press printing receptive top coat for the purpose of removable graphic signage is provided. A polyurethane adherent layer is provided that allows for repeated, non diminishing, residue free adherence and re-adherence onto various surfaces such as glass, tile, coated metals, coated wood, and valley less plastics by displacing air out between the polyurethane adherent layer and the adhered surface.

A combined receipt and label roll comprises a core, and a web having a longitudinally-extending axis and wound on the core along the axis. The web includes (i) a substrate having a front side and a back side opposite the front side, (ii) a thermally-sensitive coating disposed on the front side of the substrate, and (iii) a water-based microsphere adhesive disposed on the back side of the substrate along the web axis. The water-based microsphere adhesive comprises at least four separate adhesive patches. The at least four adhesive patches are both sized relative to each other and positioned relative to each other on the back side of the substrate such that additional tack desired can be obtained by increasing volume of the adhesive patches without having to increase coat weight of the adhesive patches.

Provided is a direct thermal media containing a regular repeating pattern of color-forming thermally-imageable stripes printed parallel to the print head element line and a system for using such direct thermal media in color direct thermal printers including an optical registration system optimized for use with this media and an image processing unit that monitors the position of the stripe pattern relative to the print head and synchronizes the start of the printing process. This direct thermal media together with the optical registration system and image processing unit comprise an operative system in that the design of the thermal media, the optical registration system and image processing unit used to control printing are optimized for use with each other. This system may be utilized, for example, in color thermal printers for documents, receipts, tags, tickets or labels.

The present invention relates to self-adhesive labels, label sheet assemblies, and related methods. The label sheet assembly includes a release liner assembly having a detachable portion, and a label releasably coupled to the release liner assembly and overlying the detachable portion. Weakened separation lines, a U-shaped cut, and a transverse cut define the detachable portion. The detachable portion is configured to remain coupled to the label as the label is peeled from the release liner assembly in a first direction, and the detachable portion is configured to remain part of the release liner assembly and separate from the label as the label is peeled from the release liner assembly in a second direction.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed toward a terminal marker used to identify a terminal block. The terminal marker includes a front having a print surface, a back, sides, and flexible legs. The flexible legs can be positioned in a natural state for installation in the terminal block or a compressed state for obtaining a marking from a printer. In the natural state, the flexible legs extend at an angle with respect to the print surface of the terminal marker. In the compressed state, the flexible legs extend outward beyond of the sides of the terminal marker.

Paper is disclosed for use in making repositionable or removable adhesive labels. The adhesive can be applied in patches or discrete areas to the paper or to a layer of material that cleans rollers in the manufacturing line and/or in printers. The adhesive can be applied in single or multiple layers. The paper is light weight paper and preferably thermal paper for use in POS printers.
