Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for design of synchronization signals for narrowband operation, which can be used for stand-alone/in-band/guard-band deployment. An example method is provided for operations which may be performed by a base station (BS). The example method generally includes generating a primary synchronization signal (PSS) utilizing a first code sequence and a cover code applied to the first code sequence over a first number of symbols within one or more subframes, generating a secondary synchronization signal (SSS) based on a second code sequence over a second number of symbols within one or more subframes, and transmitting the PSS and the SSS in the first and second subframes to a first type of a user equipment (UE) that communicates on one or more narrowband regions of wider system bandwidth.

Furthermore, some techniques and apparatuses described herein provide configurations for wakeup signals based at least in part on delays or gaps, repetitious communications, synchronization in accordance with a power level of the wakeup signal, and the like.

Abstract: A user equipment (UE) may determine that a channel, such as a downlink channel or an uplink channel, and a positioning reference signal (PRS) occasion are scheduled for a common set of resources, such as a common frequency, a common time, and/or the like. This may result in the UE being unable to receive the PRS and/or process the PRS as a result of receiving the channel. In some aspects, the UE may determine that a PRS collides with a channel, and may perform a collision response action, such as dropping at least a portion of the channel, based at least in part on determining that the PRS occasion collides with the channel.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to drone user equipment (UE) indications that may be conveyed to a wireless network. In particular, a UE that has flight capabilities (i.e., capabilities to operate as an unmanned aircraft system) and optional further capabilities to report a current height level may indicate such capabilities to the wireless network. As such, the wireless network may differentiate the drone UE from other UEs that only operate on the ground. Furthermore, the optional current height level may enable the wireless network to differentiate among drone UEs operating at different heights and/or from other UEs that are operating on the ground. The wireless network may further use the information indicating the flight capabilities either alone or in combination with the optional height information to configure power control parameters, manage interference, provide mobility management functions, generate neighbor lists, control beamforming, or implement a radio resource configuration or management procedure.

The apparatus may determine to transmit an uplink transmission to the base station. The apparatus transmit, to the base station, a scheduling request for the uplink transmission with an ACK/NACK associated with the one or more downlink transmissions using a narrowband NPUSCH format resource structure.

Abstract: In order to more efficiently use system resources and to reduce power usage, a narrowband apparatus may determine a set of monitored resource blocks (RBs) on a subframe for monitoring for CRS from a base station may monitor for the CRS from the base station on the subframe based on the set of monitored RBs. The base station may determine a bandwidth for transmitting the CRS to a user equipment, wherein the bandwidth is less than a system bandwidth and may transmit the CRS to the UE using the determined bandwidth, wherein the UE monitors for the CRS on a set of monitored RBs. The set of monitored RBs may include RBs allocated for a PDCCH search space, PDCCH and/or PDSCH transmissions and may further include RBs M subframes after and/or N subframes before the monitored RBs. The set of monitored RBs may include X RBs around a PDCCH search space and/or PDSCH.

Abstract: In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. In addition, the apparatus may determine a first set of subframes in the narrowband TDD frame structure used for transmitting a downlink control channel to a UE. In one aspect, a last subframe in the first set of subframes may be subframe n. Further, the apparatus may determine a second set of subframes in the narrowband TDD frame structure used for transmitting a downlink data channel to the UE. In certain aspects, a first subframe in the second set of subframes may be delayed based on k0 number of subframes after the subframe n. In certain other aspects, a last subframe in the second set of subframes may be subframe n+k0+x. Additionally, the apparatus may signal first information associated with the k0 number of subframes to the UE in a first delay field in a DCI transmission.

The present disclosure provides a solution by supporting one or more narrowband TDD frame structure(s) for narrowband communications. In an aspect of the disclosure, a method, a computer-readable medium, and an apparatus are provided. The apparatus may determine a bandwidth for narrowband communications. The apparatus may determine a narrowband TDD frame structure for the narrowband communications. In one aspect, the narrowband TDD frame structure may include at least one of two or more contiguous downlink subframes, or one or more flexible subframes that can be configured as either a downlink subframe or an uplink subframe. The apparatus may communicate with a UE using the narrowband TDD frame structure determined for the narrowband communications.
