    Abstract: An organic pigment dispersion in a non-aqueous medium is prepared directly from an aqueous slurry containing 0.1-20% by weight of the pigment by mixing the aqueous slurry with the non-aqueous medium under vigorous agitation and subsequently isolating the organic pigment dispersion from the residual aqueous phase.A substantial part of water in the resulting pigment dispersion can be removed by passing the organic pigment dispersion in the non-aqueous medium over a series of surfaces, the surface material thereof having different affinity for water and the non-aqueous medium, respectively, and then removing water and pigment dispersion in the non-aqueous medium, respectively, from respective surfaces.

    Abstract: An aqueous emulsion copolymer of monoethylenically unsaturated monomers which provide a copolymer having a glass transition temperature below 20.degree. C., is modified to include from about 0.3% to about 10% of a monoethylenically unsaturated copolymerizable polyether containing a chain of from about 6 to about 150 C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 oxyalkylene groups, the terminal hydroxy group provided by said chain of oxyalkylene groups being capped with a monofunctional hydrophobic group. These polyethers improve the brush drag of paints made with the emulsion copolymers, and in some instances the leveling is simultaneously improved.

    Abstract: An oil and water repellent coating composition is disclosed. The composition comprises a blend of an aminoorganosilane, a perfluorinated organic compound and a resin selected from the group consisting of colloidal inorganic-based siloxane resin, poly (dialkylsiloxane)-monoorgano substituted silsesquioxane block copolymer, acrylic polymer and copolymer, ethylene-vinyl acetate latex and styrene-butadiene latex. The silane and perfluorinated organic, combined, constitute from 0.1% to 10% by weight of the total resin solids in a solution or suspension of the blend. A method of coating a smooth substrate or treating a fabric to render the respective surface oleophobic and hydrophobic is further disclosed.
