Abstract: A vehicle adaptive steering control apparatus includes a front wheel steering mechanism having a right wheel steering portion and a left wheel steering portion. A left front wheel rotatably is coupled to the left wheel steering portion. A right front wheel rotatably coupled to the right wheel steering portion. A controller in electronic communication with a steer-by-wire steering wheel assembly and the front wheel steering mechanism operates the front wheel steering mechanism to turn the left front wheel and the right front wheel in accordance with Ackerman steering geometry. The controller is also configured to calculate toe angle adjustments for the right wheel steering portion relative to the left wheel steering portion and make the toe angle adjustments to right wheel steering portion and the left wheel steering portion during turning and steering movements effected by the right wheel steering portion and the left wheel steering portion.

Abstract: A vehicle wheel lock assembly includes a main body and a first sleeve. The main body has a wheel engaging end, a key portion, a first supporting section and a key receiving end. The key portion has a plurality of surface contours defining a first key pattern configured to couple with a tool for torsional movement of the main body. The first sleeve has an open end and a closed end. The open end is installed to the first supporting section of the main body such that the closed end of the first sleeve covers the key receiving end with the key portion exposed relative to the first sleeve. The first sleeve is retained by the first supporting section for rotation about the central axis of the main body and is non-movably retained relative to an axial direction of the main body.

A method of making the multi-acid polymers includes reacting an amino acid having multiple sulfonic acids or phosphonic acids with a polymer precursor in sulfonyl fluoride form or sulfonyl chloride form in a mild base condition to produce the multi-acid polymer having two or more proton conducting groups.

Abstract: A lithium ion battery has an anode comprising a current collector, a separator and an active material layer having active material particles. Each active material particle comprises a core of an alloying material including silicon and a polymer coating on the core, the polymer coating comprising a heat-shrinking polymer that shrinks as temperature increases. As cycling increases across a life of the lithium ion battery, an expansion amount of the alloying material of the core increases, temperature of the anode increases, and an amount of shrinkage of the polymer coating increases, such that as the core attempts to expand against the polymer coating, the polymer coating exerts an opposite force on the core.

Abstract: A first lamp assembly has a first side surface with a first light passage and a hollow interior with a first light dispersing member disposed therein. The first light dispersing member is positioned to receive light emitted through the first light passage and emit light received via the first light passage. The second lamp assembly has a hollow interior with a first lighting device disposed therein, and a second side surface with a second light passage. Abstract: A vehicle mirror assembly includes a mirror plate, a support member and a housing. The mirror plate has an exposed surface, a back surface and an outer peripheral edge surface extending around the mirror plate from the exposed surface to the back surface. The outer peripheral edge has a groove formed therein. The support member has a base portion and an outer peripheral lip. The outer peripheral lip has a plurality of clip projections that extend toward a central area of the base portion. With the mirror plate installed within the support member, the back surface extends along the base portion and the clip projections of the outer peripheral lip extend into the groove retaining the mirror plate to the support member. The housing has a vehicle mounting portion and an aiming mechanism disposed within the housing. The base portion of the support member is fixed to the aiming mechanism.

Abstract: A vehicle component moves between a first position exposing a rearward area of a vehicle interior and a second position at least partially concealing the rearward area. A movement detection device senses movement of the vehicle component. A vehicle ignition device within the vehicle body structure is operated by a vehicle operator. A controller is operably connected to the movement detection device, the vehicle ignition device and an alerting device. The controller detects movement of the vehicle component and operation of the vehicle ignition device in predetermined sequences of movement and operation. The controller thereafter determines whether or not the vehicle operator has potentially left an object in the rearward area. In response to determining that the vehicle operator may have left an object in the rearward area of the vehicle interior, the controller provides an alarm signal.

Abstract: A transverse link has an inboard side and an outboard side. A steering knuckle has an upper end, a wheel supporting section and a lower end. The lower end is pivotally coupled to the outboard side of the transverse link. A strut has an upper end and a lower end. An upper knuckle breakaway structure attaches the upper end of the steering knuckle to the lower end of the strut. The upper knuckle breakaway structure has a frangible part that releases the upper end of the steering knuckle from the lower end of the strut upon application of a prescribed rearward directed force. A transverse link breakaway structure couples the inboard side of the transverse link to a lower suspension support structure such that upon application of the prescribed rearward directed force the inboard side of the transverse link is released from the lower suspension support structure.

Abstract: An anode for a lithium-ion battery includes a current collector, a separator and an active material comprising alloying particles and a carbon material. A conductive net of carbon material surrounds the active material on at least the side walls and a separator-facing surface, the conductive net having net openings sized to retain the alloying particles and the carbon material within the conductive net while allowing lithium ions and electrons to pass through. The conductive net also maintains electrical contact between the carbon material and the alloying particles during lithiation and delithiation of the alloying particles.
