Abstract:
A hydraulic tubing system wherein one or more elongate metal strips extend parallel to each other in a longitudinal direction and at least one hydraulic tubing line is disposed adjacent to the one or more elongate metal strips. The at least one hydraulic tubing line also extends along the longitudinal direction. The one or more elongate metal strips and the at least one hydraulic tubing line are together encapsulated in an encapsulation, to form an encapsulated hydraulic tubing system extending in the same longitudinal direction.
Abstract:
A method of heating a subsurface formation includes introducing a molten salt into a first passageway of a conduit-in-conduit heater at a first location. The molten salt is passed through the conduit-in-conduit heater in the formation to a second location. Heat transfers from the molten salt to a treatment area during passage of the molten salt through the conduit-in-conduit heater. The molten salt is removed from the conduit-in-conduit heater at a second location spaced away from the first location.

A method for preparing coated binder units wherein the coated binder units comprise a core of binder coated with a layer of coating material, wherein the binder is a bituminous binder or a synthetic binder comprising a resin, an oil and optionally a polymer.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for coupling ends of two insulated conductors includes coupling a core of a first insulated conductor to a core of a second insulated conductor. Exposed portions of the cores are located inside a box. Electrically insulating powder material is placed into the box and a force is applied to first and second plungers to compact the powder material. Additional electrically insulating powder material may placed into the box and a subsequent force applied to compact the powder material into compacted powder material that surrounds the exposed portions of the cores. The compacted powder material is formed into a substantially cylindrical shape. A sleeve is placed over the compacted powder material and coupled to the jackets of the insulated conductors.
Abstract:
A method for monitoring fluid flow in a conduit comprises: acoustically coupling an optical fiber to the conduit adjacent one or more flow restrictions (R1-R4) in the conduit; inducing a Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) assembly to measure an acoustic noise signature (SNR1-4) generated in the fiber by the fluid flowing through each flow restriction (R1-R4); deriving the fluid flow rate of the fluid (QI, QI+II) flowing through each flow restriction (R1-R4) from the measured acoustic noise signature (SNR1-4); and displaying the derived fluid flow rate (QI, QI+II) at a fluid flow rate monitoring display.
Abstract:
A process for converting oxygenates to olefins comprising: a) providing an oxygenate containing stream to an oxygenate to olefins conversion reactor; b) passing the oxygenate containing stream through a feed introduction system comprising one or more nozzles and one or more corresponding caps; c) contacting the oxygenate containing stream with a molecular sieve catalyst in the oxygenate to olefins conversion reactor to form an olefin containing product stream; and d) removing the product stream from the reactor.
Abstract:
A process for converting oxygenates to olefms comprising: a) contacting an oxygenate containing stream with a molecular sieve catalyst under oxygenate to olefms conversion conditions in a reactor to form an effluent comprising olefms; b) separating C3-hydrocarbons from C4+ hydrocarbons in the effluent; c) separating C1 hydrocarbons and other light gases from C2+ hydrocarbons; d) separating C2 hydrocarbons from the C3 hydrocarbons; e) sending the C3 hydrocarbons to a C3 splitter to separate pro pylene from propane; f) removing propylene from the C3 splitter; and g) removing propane from the C3 splitter.
Abstract:
A new configuration of ZSM-5 is provided whereby the crystals have a higher average silica to alumina ratio at the edges of each crystallite than in the centre as determined from a narrow slit line scan profile obtained from SEM/EDX or TEM/EDX elemental analysis. Such ZSM-5 crystals are obtained by a preparation process using L-tartaric acid. The new configuration ZSM-5 provides significantly reduced xylene losses in ethylbenzene dealkylation, especially when combined with silica as binder, and one or more hydrogenation metals selected from platinum, tin, lead, silver, copper, and nickel.
Abstract:
A method for monitoring a fluid release plume emitted by an industrial plant and/or an underground hydrocarbon fluid deposit into an adjacent space comprises: a) monitoring the space by means of a video camera during a selected period of time to generate an input video movie of the space; b) decomposing the generated input video movie into a series (s) of different spatial frequency bands; c) filtering the series (s) of spatial frequency bands by means of at least one temporal filter; d) amplifying the series (s) of filtered spatial frequency bands by a series of selected amplification factors (α1, α2, . . . −αs), wherein at least one amplification factor (α1) differs from the other amplification factors (α2, . . . −αs); and e) reconstructing an output video movie of the space in which the fluid release plume is enhanced by displaying a recomposition of the series of amplified filtered spatial frequency bands.
Abstract:
Digestion of cellulosic biomass solids to form a hydrolysate may be conducted with integrated catalytic reduction during digestion to transform soluble carbohydrates in the hydrolysate into a more stable reaction product. Such integrated catalytic reduction may be conducted using a slurry catalyst. Biomass conversion systems for performing integrated catalytic reduction can comprise: a hydrothermal digestion unit that contains a slurry catalyst capable of activating molecular hydrogen; an optional hydrogen feed line that is operatively connected to the hydrothermal digestion unit; a fluid circulation loop comprising the hydrothermal digestion unit and a catalytic reduction reactor unit, the catalytic reduction reactor unit also containing the slurry catalyst; a pretreatment digestion unit that is not part of the fluid circulation loop and does not contain the slurry catalyst; and a solids transport mechanism operatively connecting the pretreatment digestion unit to the hydrothermal digestion unit.
