Abstract:
An example apparatus includes a meter to generate first information indicative of a media presentation mode of a media presentation application executed by a wireless communication device during a presentation of the media content received and presented via the wireless communication device, the media content comprising scheduled programming that is broadcasted or multicasted simultaneously to a plurality of other wireless communication devices during a pre-scheduled time; and generate second information indicative of the media content presented via the wireless communication device. A memory is to store the first information in association with the second information in the wireless communication device; and store third information in association with the first and second information. The third information is indicative of at least one of a location of a cell tower used to transmit the media content, an identifier of the cell tower, or an identifier of a wireless network access point.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus to adaptively gather audience information data are disclosed. The disclosed methods and apparatus monitor system factor(s) and select one or more sensors from a plurality of sensors positioned to gather audience measurement data based on the monitored factor(s). Thus, the disclosed methods and apparatus adapt to the conditions they face by selecting an amount and/or type of audience measurement data they gather.
Abstract:
Technology described herein provides techniques for screen detection. This could be a dynamic screen, such as a display screen of an electronic device, or a static screen such as a street sign. In one aspect, a screen is detected in frames of image data. An active image and/or an average color image may be formed based on frames of image data. A set of lines that are candidate for boundaries of a screen are identified in the frames. The active image and/or an average color is integrated on both sides of each line in the set of lines to form integration results. A set of screen candidates are formed based on the integration results. Screens in the screen candidates are scored according to a criterion. One or top few of the screens in the set of screen candidates is selected based on the scoring.
Abstract:
A method and system for identification of a deviation from a periodic behavior pattern in a sequence of multimedia content segments are provided. The system comprises receiving the sequence of multimedia content segments; generating at least one signature for each multimedia content segment of the sequence of multimedia content segments; comparing at least two signatures generated for at least two consecutive multimedia content segments to detect a periodic behavior pattern; upon detecting the periodic behavior pattern, comparing at least one signature generated for at least a subsequently received multimedia content segment to at least one signature representing the detected multimedia content segment to identify a deviation from the periodic behavior pattern; and upon identifying the deviation from the periodic behavior pattern, generating a notification with respect to the at least one deviation.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for processing a sample of a media stream are provided. In one example, a method includes receiving a sample of a media stream rendered by a media rendering source, and for matching media recordings from which the sample was obtained, the method also includes receiving a signature file including a temporally mapped collection of features describing content of the matching media recordings. Each received signature file may be stored in memory. In addition, a signature stream may be received that includes features extracted from the media stream, and a number of matching features between the signature stream of the media stream and the signature file for at least one matching media recording can be determined. In one example, when substantially matching features between the signature stream of the media stream and the signature file for a matching media recording stop occurring, a discontinuity can be identified.
Abstract:
Systems and methods are provided for gathering audience measurement data relating to receipt of and/or exposure to audio data by an audience member. Audio data is monitored to detect a monitoring code. Based on detection of the monitoring code, a signature characterizing the audio data is extracted.
Abstract:
Signaturing methods and apparatus as described. An example method includes applying a first function to a portion of digital data to produce a first windowed block, applying a second function different from the first function to the same portion of the digital data to produce a second windowed block, determining a first characteristic of a band of frequencies in the first windowed block, determining a second characteristic of the band of frequencies in the second windowed block, comparing the first characteristic to the second characteristic, and assigning a signature bit representative of the portion of the digital data based on the comparison of the first characteristic and the second characteristic.
Abstract:
Devices and methods for scoring viewer's interactions with content broadcast on a presentation device by processing at least one audio signal received by a microphone proximate the viewer and the presentation device, to generate at least one audio signature, which is compared to at least two different reference audio signatures.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method comprising the steps of running, on a first user electronic device, an application program; correlating, using the application program running on the first user electronic device, with a video program being transmitted to a second user electronic device in a vicinity of the first electronic device; receiving, at the first user electronic device from a first user input device, a query related to at least a portion of the video program; obtaining, at the first user electronic device, instructions for an action to be performed based on the query; and performing, at the first user electronic device, the associated action, in response to the query.
Abstract:
A computer-implemented method including the steps of: receiving, by a computer system including at least one computer, a media work uploaded from a first electronic device; receiving, by the computer system from a second electronic device, a tag associated with the media work having a media work identifier; storing, by the computer system, the media work identifier and the associated tag; obtaining, by the computer system from a third electronic device, a query related to the associated tag; correlating, by the computer system, the query with associated information related to an action to be performed; and providing, from the computer system to the third electronic device, the associated information to be used in performing the action.
