Abstract:
A system for generating optimized values for variable inputs to an animal production system. The system includes a simulator engine configured to receive a plurality of animal information inputs and generate a performance projection. At least one of the animal information inputs is designated as a variable input. The system further includes an enterprise supervisor engine configured to generate an optimized value for the at least one variable input based on an optimization criteria for at least one target output characteristic.
Abstract:
A method and system of controlling auto-ignition timing in an internal combustion engine cylinder in which the timing of auto-ignition in prechambers that are coupled to the cylinder is precisely controlled. The auto-ignition in the prechambers is produced by a compression stroke using pistons situated within the prechambers. Hot gas jets produced by the prechamber auto-ignitions are introduced into the charge space of the cylinder and rapidly induce a second auto-ignition of the mixture in the cylinder. By precisely controlling the timing of the auto-ignitions within the prechambers, the timing of the auto-ignition within the cylinders can, in turn, be precisely controlled.
Abstract:
A method and system for creating a customized animal feed is disclosed. The method and system include having ingredient data from more than one location, animal data, evaluation data, and optimization weighting data. The specifications for a customized feed are generated using ingredient data representative of the mix of ingredients available at one or more locations. A customized feed is generated which is designed to fulfill the nutritional requirements for the animal's diet. The nutritional requirements are derived from the animal data. Furthermore, the feed is optimized based upon the profile data, the feed data, the evaluation data, and the optimization weighting data.
Abstract:
In one embodiment according to the present invention, relative z-ordering of segments in a digital image is determined. A method comprises forward and backward motion matching of image regions to determine overlap, followed by the creation of relationships (e.g., pairwise relationships) between regions and comparing the result with the original image to determine the relative z-ordering.
Abstract:
An Internet-enabled means of distributing entertainment programming with embedded advertising in which the entertainment programming is customized according to consumers' stated preferences and the advertising is customized according to consumer demographics and also according to consumers' stated preferences. A computing system usable to create and distribute personalized entertainment and advertising content comprising computer hosts having software agents acting to administer a master digital library as well as end users' digital libraries, establish advertising bookings and insert advertising content, establish schedules of digital content for distribution to end users, identify digital content listed on a schedule but missing from the end user's digital library, distribute across a communications network digital content to end users, and decrypt and play or display the digital entertainment and advertising content. A communications network for exchanging information and data among said computer hosts and agents.
Abstract:
A stent is positioned on an undersized mandrel and the stent is coated with an excess of a polymer and drug solution. The stent is rotated to spin off the excess of the coating. The stent is then moved into a new, clean position on the mandrel. The process is repeated a few times, after which time the coating is already dry and non-sticky. This process forms a conforming coating. Various important polymer solution parameters include viscosity, solvent evaporation rate and several others. The actual type of coating polymer is not as important as how the surface of the stent is treated, according to the steps described herein.
Abstract:
Compounds and methods for inactivating pathogens in materials are described, including compositions and methods for inactivating pathogens in biological materials such as red blood cell preparations and plasma. The compounds and methods may be used to treat materials intended for in vitro or in vivo use, such as clinical testing or transfusion. The compounds are designed to specifically bind to and react with nucleic acid, and then to degrade to form breakdown products. The degradation reaction is preferably slower than the reaction with nucleic acid.
