Abstract:
An apparatus and method for adaptively changing clock frequencies of a Central Processing Unit (CPU) and a bus in a digital system are provided. The system includes an Adaptive Frequency Scaling (AFS) controller and a clock controller. The AFS controller determines whether to change a clock frequency of the CPU according to operation information of the CPU, and determines whether to change a clock frequency of the bus according to operation information of the bus. The clock controller generates a clock frequency of the CPU and a clock frequency of the bus according to the determination of the AFS controller.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an indoor unit of an air conditioner, in which discharge units respectively provided on upper and lower portions of the indoor unit have an improved discharge structure such that the discharge units are interchangeable, to increase cooling efficiency regardless of installation position of the indoor unit. The indoor unit includes a cabinet; a first discharge unit being detachably provided on the cabinet and configured to discharge air in a forward direction; and a second discharge unit separated from the first discharge unit, being detachably provided on the cabinet and configured to discharge air in the oblique direction, the first discharge unit and the second discharge unit being interchangeable according to a height of a position at which the cabinet is installed. The indoor unit of the air conditioner sets the optimum direction of discharged air, thus increasing the cooling efficiency of an indoor space.

Abstract:
An apparatus and method for dynamically controlling a clock signal in a pipeline system are provided. In the apparatus and method, a clock generator outputs the clock signal at every period, a PDR is included with each stage for outputting information about a processing speed of each stage, and a CCU controls the delay of the clock signal using the processing time of each stage received from the PDR and providing the clock signal with the controlled delay to a register between stages. Accordingly, the clock signal is dynamically controlled to provide higher operating speeds.
Abstract:
Provided are an apparatus and method for estimating carrier frequency offset in a communication terminal operating in a communication system supporting Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) or Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing Access (OFDMA). More particularly, provided are a method of estimating carrier frequency offset in a communication terminal supporting DownLink (DL) Full Usage of SubChannel (FUSC) and DL Band-Adaptive Modulation and Coding (AMC) channel modes in a wireless communication system based on one of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) 802.16d/e, Wireless Broadband (WiBro), and Worldwide interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) standards, and a communication terminal performing the method. The apparatus includes: a phase difference calculator for calculating a phase difference between pilot symbols having the same linear phase among the pilot symbols of a received signal; a phase difference accumulator for accumulating the phase difference and generating a phase difference accumulation value; and a calculator for converting the phase difference accumulation value into a carrier frequency offset estimation value.
Abstract:
Provided are an apparatus and method for measuring a carrier-to-interference-and-noise ratio (CINR) using a downlink preamble in a digital communication system. More particularly, provided are an apparatus and method that measure CINRs using preambles of received signals respectively corresponding to a plurality of cells or sectors and perform handover and reverse power control using the CINRs in a digital communication system employing an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technique or orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) technique. According to the apparatus and method, it is possible to easily measure CINRs and perform handover and reverse power control using the measured CINRs. Therefore, deterioration in performance can be reduced even in a poor channel environment by maintaining a CINR received by a base station at an appropriate level.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method and an apparatus for decoding transmission signal. The method includes the steps of: receiving transmission signal including repeated symbols; deinterleaving the received signal; mutually combining the repeated symbols in the deinterleaved signal; and decoding the combined symbols. According to the method, reception performance is improved as compared to a conventional decoding method, and system performance is improved by reducing the loss of frame information included in an FCH.
