摘要： The invention provides a recombinant or synthetic receptor for granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and biochemical and/or biological equivalents, homologues, or derivatives thereof. The GM-CSF receptor is useful inter alia in treatment and diagnosis of GM-CSF related diseases, and in screening of agonists and antagonists of binding of GM-CSF to its cell-bound receptors. The invention further provides nucleic acid sequences encoding GM-CSF receptor, recombinant DNA molecules comprising these sequences, and transformed hosts carrying the recombinant DNA molecules, as well as antibodies directed against GM-CSF receptor, and pharmaceutical compositions comprising either the GM-CSF receptor or antibody thereto.

摘要： The present invention relates generally to amino acid sequences obtainable from SOCS proteins and which are capable of interacting with intracellular molecules. The present invention further relates to nucleic acid molecules encoding said amino acid sequences. The amino acid sequences and the nucleic acid molecules encoding same of the present invention are useful in modulating degradation of proteinaceous molecules such as but not limited to SOCS proteins and proteinaceous molecules associate therewith. The present invention provides a mechanism for modulating cytokine or cytokine-like molecule signaling by modulating the degradation of activated signal transduction molecules or their negative regulators, i.e. the SOCS proteins.

The present invention further comprises a genetically modified animal. More particularly, the animals are genetically modified such that they have altered growth hormone signalling. The genetically modified animals of the present invention range from laboratory animals useful inter alia for animal models for studying hormone regulation and for the development of therapeutic protocols predicated, in part, on modulating hormone signalling to livestock animals. The latter may be manipulated for improved food production.
