    摘要: An ignition timing control system for an internal combustion engine, which is capable of ensuring both stability of control in a steady operating condition of the engine, and an excellent follow-up property of a controlled variable to a target value in a transient operating condition of the engine, even when the controlled variable contains a lot of high-frequency noise components. In the ignition timing control system, a maximum pressure angle-calculating section calculates a maximum pressure angle based on an in-cylinder pressure and a crank angle position. A target angle-calculating section calculates a target angle. A maximum pressure angle controller calculates a maximum pressure angle correction term with a control algorithm to which is applied a sliding mode control algorithm, using a value obtained by performing ε-filtering on a switching function, such that the maximum pressure angle converges to the target angle. The ignition timing is calculated by adding corrected ignition timing to the value.

The throttle valve actuating device has a throttle valve of an internal combustion engine and an actuator for actuating the throttle valve. Model parameters of a controlled object model obtained by modeling the throttle valve actuating device is identified by an identifier. The model parameters includes a specific model parameter irrelevant to an input and an output of the controlled object model. An opening of the throttle valve is controlled to a target opening using the identified model parameters. It is determined that the throttle valve actuating device is abnormal when the value of the specific model parameter becomes greater than a predetermined value.

    摘要: An exhaust gas purifying apparatus for an internal combustion engine is provided for simultaneously realizing sufficient recovery of the adsorbing capability of an adsorbent and limitation to an increase in exhaust resistance. The exhaust gas purifying apparatus for an internal combustion engine comprises a flow path switching valve for switching an exhaust gas flow path to a bypass exhaust passage or to a main exhaust passage, three-way catalysts, and an HC adsorbent arranged in the bypass exhaust passage for adsorbing hydrocarbons in exhaust gases and fully desorbing the adsorbed hydrocarbons when it is heated to a full desorption temperature or higher. A troidal passage of the main exhaust passage completely surrounds a portion of the bypass exhaust passage in which the HC adsorbent is arranged. A ratio S1/S2 of the cross-sectional area S2 of the troidal passage to the cross-sectional area of a flow-in passage is set in a range from 1.0 at which the exhaust resistance begins gradually decreasing as the ratio S2/S1 increases to 3.0 at which the HC adsorbent can be heated to the full desorption temperature or higher.

The ignition timing control unit has a function to vary the feedback gain of the feedback control process depending on the ignition timing, such that the feedback gain is smaller as the ignition timing being manipulated is more retarded.

The control unit includes an adaptive sliding mode controller for determining a correction quantity to correct the air-fuel ratio of the engine so as to equalize the concentration of the component of the exhaust gas downstream of the catalytic converter to a predetermined appropriate value, according to an adaptive sliding mode control process based on the output from the second exhaust gas sensor, and a feedback controller for controlling a rate at which fuel is supplied to the engine so as to converge the concentration of the component of the exhaust gas downstream of the catalytic converter toward the predetermined appropriate value, based on the correction quantity and the output from the first exhaust gas sensor.
