Abstract: Disclosed herein is a device for filtering a point cloud. The device may include processor configured to receive a plurality of sensed points representing distance measurements to points in an area around an entity. The processor may also be configured to determine, for each sensed point of the plurality of sensed points, one or more probabilities that the sensed point is associated with an obstacle in the area around the entity, wherein each probability of the one or more probabilities is based on a corresponding filter of one or more filters. The processor may also be configured to generate a filtered point cloud from the plurality of sensed points based on, for each sensed point, a hierarchical combination of the one or more probabilities.

Abstract: One or more processors may be configured to determine one or more prospective routes of an ego vehicle being at least partially controlled by a human driver; receive first sensor data, representing one or more attributes of a second vehicle; determine a danger probability of the one or more prospective routes of the first vehicle using the at least the one or more attributes of the second vehicle from the first sensor data; and if each of the one or more prospective routes of the first vehicle has a danger probability outside of a predetermined range, send a signal representing a safety intervention. Whenever a safety intervention signal is sent, the one or more processors may be configured to increment or decrement a counter.

Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems, devices, and methods for hazard and risk analysis systems that use operational information about an autonomous vehicle in order to continuously determine a hazard and risk analysis of a vehicle and its compliance with safety standards. The hazard and risk analysis system estimates a hazard probability for a vehicle based on operational information about the vehicle, wherein the hazard probability represents a likelihood that the vehicle will experience a driving event over a predefined interval. The hazard and risk analysis also adjusts a driving parameter of the vehicle based on the hazard probability if the hazard probability deviates from a predefined hazard safety criterion.

Abstract: Devices and methods for determining an action in the presence of road users are provided in this disclosure. A device may include a processor. The processor may be configured to access environment information including an indication of a size of road users intersecting with a predetermined route of a vehicle in a road environment. The processor may further be configured to prioritize an anticipated movement of at least one of the road users over a predicted movement of the vehicle within the predetermined route based on the size of road users. The processor may further be configured to determine a vehicle action allowing the anticipated movement of the at least one road user.

Abstract: A monitoring system may include a memory having computer-readable instructions stored thereon and a processor operatively coupled to the memory. The processor may read and execute the computer-readable instructions to perform or control performance of operations. The operations may include receive, prior to a collision involving a vehicle, sensor data representative of a feature of an internal environment and determine the collision has occurred. The operations may include automatically instruct, based on the collision, a sensor to generate another sensor data representative of another feature of the internal environment. The operations may include receive the another sensor data from the sensor and compare the sensor data and the another sensor data to accident data corresponding to previous accidents. The accident data may include a diagnosed injury and an accident severity of each of the previous accidents. The operations may include determine a severity of the collision based on the comparison.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is a vehicle handover system that monitors an environment of a vehicle. The vehicle handover system receives a transition request to change control of the vehicle from an automated driving mode to a passenger of the vehicle. The vehicle handover system detects a key event that may be relevant to the transition request and the detection of the key event is based on the monitored environment. The vehicle handover system may generate a handover scene that includes images associated with the key event, and the images include an image sequence over a time-period of the key event. Before the vehicle handover system changes control of the vehicle from the automated driving mode to the passenger, the handover scene is displayed to the passenger.

Abstract: Autonomous unmanned vehicles (UVs) for responding to situations are described. Embodiments include UVs that launch upon detection of a situation, operate in the area of the situation, and collect and send information about the situation. The UVs may launch from a vehicle involved in the situation, a vehicle responding to the situation, or from a fixed station. In other embodiments, the UVs also provide communications relays to the situation and may facilitate access to the situation by responders. The UVs further may act as decoupled sensors for vehicles. In still other embodiments, the collected information may be used to recreate the situation as it happened.
