There is provided a method for manufacturing a ceramic porous body comprising the steps of: mixing glass frit and silica particles with ceramic particles coming to function as framework particles to give a mixture, forming the mixture into a predetermined shape to obtain a formed body, drying the formed body, and firing the dried formed body. According to a method for manufacturing a ceramic porous body of the present invention, a ceramic porous body having excellent corrosion resistance against acid and alkali, and defects such as a strain and a crack are hardly caused during manufacturing.

A method for manufacturing a filter utilizing a ceramic porous membrane is provided, comprising the step of depositing a film deposition slurry containing ceramic framework particles on the surface of a porous substrate. The slurry contains an organic polymer for expanding gaps among the ceramic framework particles, and the micro-pore size of the porous membrane is controlled by adjusting the weight ratio between the framework particles and the organic polymer in the slurry, thereby enabling a porous membrane having a desired micro-pore size to be formed irrespective of the particle size of the framework particles.

Preferably, the ratio also is outside a range within which explosion would occur if the oxygen-containing gas and products resulting from reactions between oxygen supplied through the oxygen-permeable membrane and the source gas were allowed to combine directly. The vessel is safer to operate in that the risk of explosion, due to direct mixing of the gases when the oxygen-permeable membrane is damaged or cracked, is greatly reduced.

A method for removing CO from a reformed gas includes the steps of treating the reformed gas by a hydrogen purifier to decrease a ratio of the concentration of components other than hydrogen to the concentration of hydrogen so that the ratio may be lower than in the reformed gas, and then converting CO contained in the gas treated by the hydrogen purifier into a gas other than CO. CO can be removed from the reformed gas, and simultaneously high-purity hydrogen can also be obtained, which leads to the increase of a fuel efficiency and the inhibition effect of performance deterioration.
