    摘要: For determining connection of a TV broadcast receiver for receiving terrestrial broadcasts to a smart antenna with multiple receiving directions having a current active receiving direction, the receiver sends, to the connected antenna, a control signal to change the current active receiving direction to a further active receiving direction, so as to determine that a smart antenna is connected to the receiver if intensity of a television broadcast signal received and measured in the further active receiving direction is significantly varied from that in the current receiving direction. If the intensity of the television broadcast signal in the further active receiving direction is not significantly varied, the receiver determines that a smart antenna is disconnected from the receiver, and displays a message indicating the disconnection to a user. Thus, this receiver can automatically determine the kind of connected antenna, and display information about the connected antenna to the user.

    摘要: A TFT matrix-type liquid crystal display device is used in laptop personal computers and wall TVs. On a transparent insulating substrate 10 there are formed gate bus lines 14 for commonly connecting the gates of thin film transistors, drain bus lines 16 for commonly connecting the drains of the thin film transistors, and outside terminals 20 and outside terminals 30 opposed respectively to the ends of the gate bus lines and the drain bus lines 16. Gate connection lines 24 for commonly connecting the gate bus lines 14 and drain connection lines 34 for commonly connecting the drain bus lines are formed in regions inner of the outside terminals 20, 30. The thin film transistor matrix device can be fabricated without occurrence of short circuit defects, with little characteristic change and with high yields.

    摘要: The invention relates to a liquid crystal display used as a display section of an electronic apparatus and provides a liquid crystal display having high chromaticity characteristics and viewing angle characteristics. A configuration is employed which includes substrates having electrodes on respective surfaces thereof opposite to each other, a liquid crystal sealed between the substrates, and a pixel region including a low effective voltage area in which an effective voltage applied to the liquid crystal is lower than a voltage applied between the electrodes, the low effective voltage area occupying part of the region in a predetermined area ratio, the pixel region having a threshold voltage that varies between the low effective voltage area and another area.
