Abstract: A light-emitting apparatus includes: a first phosphor layer including a first phosphor composed of an inorganic phosphor activated by Ce3+; and a second phosphor layer including a second phosphor composed of an inorganic phosphor activated by Ce3+ and different from the first phosphor. The second phosphor layer is provided so as to be spaced apart from the first phosphor layer. The light-emitting apparatus further includes: an optical filter provided between the first phosphor layer and the second phosphor layer; and an excitation source that emits light that excites at least one of the first phosphor and the second phosphor. The second phosphor has light absorption characteristics of absorbing at least a part of first fluorescence emitted by the first phosphor. The optical filter reflects at least a part of the first fluorescence emitted by the first phosphor, and allows passage of second fluorescence emitted by the second phosphor.

Abstract: A light emitting device includes a first wavelength converter that contains a first phosphor that absorbs at least part of primary light radiated by a radiation source and converts the primary light absorbed into secondary light, and a second wavelength converter that contains a second phosphor that absorbs at least part of the secondary light and converts the secondary light absorbed into tertiary light. The lifetime of fluorescence emitted from the second phosphor is longer than the lifetime of fluorescence emitted from the first phosphor, and the light density of the secondary light, with which the second wavelength converter is irradiated, is lower than the light density of the primary light, with which the first wavelength converter is irradiated.

Abstract: In a projection system, a light source unit emits a first visible light beam, a second visible light beam having a longer wavelength than the first visible light beam, and a near infrared light beam. A spatial light modulation unit subjects the first visible light beam, the second visible light beam, and the near infrared light beam, all emitted from the light source unit, to spatial light modulation to produce a first image light beam, a second image light beam, and a third image light beam, respectively. Abstract: A garnet compound includes a single particle or an aggregation of single particles, each single particle having a particle shape derived from a crystal structure of garnet. The garnet compound has a composition represented by a general formula: A′3B′2(C′X4)3 (1) (where A′, B′, and C′ are cations forming the garnet compound, and X is an anion forming the garnet compound), neither B′ nor C′ containing iron as a main component. The single particle in the garnet compound has a particle size categorized as sand in geology. The garnet compound contains lead in an amount of 1000 ppm or less.
