摘要:
An intraluminal catheter device having an expandable member formed of a matrix of fiber elements with a therapeutic agent incorporated therein. The therapeutic agent can be coated on the fiber elements in a co-axial configuration. The fiber elements may also have a second coating including a protective substance surrounding the therapeutic agent. The matrix of fiber elements can be formed by electrospinning. A process of delivering a therapeutic agent to a target site includes providing an intraluminal catheter device having an expandable member formed of a matrix of fiber elements, the expandable member having a therapeutic agent dispersed therein, and advancing the catheter device at a desired treatment site. Once at the desired treatment site, fluid is introduced into the inflation lumen to expand the expandable member from a first profile to a second profile, and the therapeutic agent is delivered to the desired treatment site.

A device and method is disclosed for reducing turbulent blood flow over stent struts of an intravascular stent implanted in, for example, a coronary artery. An abrasive slurry is passed over the struts of an intravascular stent in order to remove a portion of the stent struts to form an airfoil shape. When the stent having airfoil-shaped struts is implanted in an artery, the flow of blood over the airfoil shape will reduce the likelihood of turbulent blood flow and thereby will reduce the likelihood of turbulent blood flow and thereby reduce the likelihood of a buildup in plaque or injury to the vessel wall.

An intraluminal catheter device having an expandable member formed of a matrix of fiber elements, the expandable member including a hydrogel polymer having a therapeutic agent incorporated therein. The hydrogel polymer can be coated on the fiber elements in a co-axial configuration. The fiber elements may also have a second coating including a protective substance surrounding the hydrogel polymer having a therapeutic agent therein. The matrix of fiber elements can be formed by electrospinning. A process of delivering a therapeutic agent to a target site includes providing an intraluminal catheter device having an expandable member formed of a matrix of fiber elements, the expandable member including a hydrogel polymer having a therapeutic agent dispersed therein, and advancing the catheter device at a desired treatment site. Once at the desired treatment site, fluid is introduced into the inflation lumen to expand the expandable member from a first profile to a second profile, and the therapeutic agent is released from the hydrogel polymer and delivered to the desired treatment site.

Devices and methods for treating veins and venous conditions, such as chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency, are provided. In one aspect, the disclosed subject matter provides an intraluminal scaffold having a generally tubular body with a lumen defined therethrough, the tubular body having a compressed condition for delivery and an expanded condition for implant within a vessel having a distended portion, at least a length of the tubular body configured to form an enlarged portion in the expanded condition to engage a wall of the distended portion of the vessel. Methods for fabricating and using the scaffold, methods for remodeling a vein, and methods of deploying a medical device in a vessel without negatively impacting the function of a valve of the vessel, are also provided.

Intraluminal scaffold assembly implantable in a body lumen of a patient to manipulate a valve of the lumen is provided. The intraluminal scaffold assembly includes an intraluminal scaffold, an elongated core member coupled with the intraluminal scaffold having a length sufficient to traverse a valve in a body lumen with the intraluminal scaffold positioned proximate the valve. The intraluminal scaffold assembly can further include one or more additional intraluminal scaffolds, a weighted element or an active element that is coupled with the elongated core member. A system including a delivery system and the intraluminal scaffold assembly, as well as methods of delivering the intraluminal scaffold assembly and using the intraluminal scaffold assembly to manipulate a valve in a body lumen, is also provided.

A porous balloon or other catheter structure is formed by creating specific size pores for delivering an agent to a body lumen. The pores can be created by passing matter or energy through the surface of the catheter structure, as by a laser or a projectile. In the case of a laser, the catheter structure can be reversed so that the inner surface becomes the outer surface to convert diverging pores into converging pores. In the case of projectiles, a pore size can be achieved by selecting an appropriate size and shaped projectile to obtain the desired characteristic. Alternatively, a material to make the catheter structure can include impurities that can be removed once the catheter structure is set, leaving pores where the material formed around the impurities.

The present invention provides an intraluminal stent delivery catheter device having improved stent retention. Particularly, the present invention is directed to a catheter having an expandable member and a fibrous matrix positioned over the expandable member and a stent mounted on the outer surface of the fibrous matrix. The fibrous matrix provides mechanical interface for improved stent retention, delivery and deployment.
