    摘要: A unique instant-on feature for a cooking device that allows microprocessor control of the device after a period of idling. When activated, the instant-on enabler switch sends a signal to the microprocessor, which checks an internal clock to determine the amount of time the device has remained idle since the last cook cycle. This information is sent back to the instant-on enabler switch, which then selects among an appropriate array of cooking times. These times, longer than the initial pre-set cooking time, are based on testing and compensate for the degree of heat zone stratification in the cooking medium or surface caused by the extended idling. The instant-on enabler program immediately supplies additional heat to the cooking surface upon activation cooking cycle or operator input, allowing the maximum time for the cooking surface to reach proper cooking temperature.

    摘要: A baffle assembly for a generally elongate heat exchanger tube of the type used in an atmospheric gas-fired heating appliance includes a perforated plate member formed in a V-shaped configuration and adapted to be secured within the heat exchanger tube in the path of combustion gases issuing from a heat exchanger. Ears formed integrally with the plate member engage the rearward end of the heat exchanger tube, and a rod extending forwardly of the plate member engages the forward end of the heat exchanger tube by means of a hook-shaped end portion formed thereon. The plate member is thereby secured within the heat exchanger tube such that combustion gases directed at the forward edge of the plate member are deflected outwardly against the side walls of the heat exchanger tube increasing the heat transfer rate thereto. Combustion gases passing through the perforations of the plate member also serve to heat the plate member to an infra-red energy emitting condition whereby the walls of the heat exchanger tube are further heated by radiant energy. Thus, the baffle assembly provides for substantially enhanced heating efficiency of the appliance.

    摘要: The present disclosure presents a general approach to engineering existing protein-protein interactions through domain addition and evolution. The disclosure teaches the creation of novel fusion proteins that include knottin peptides where a portion of the knottin peptide is replaced with a sequence that has been created for binding to a particular target. Such fusion proteins can also be bispecific or multi specific in that they can bind to and/or inhibit two or more receptors or receptor ligands. Knottins may be fused with an existing ligand (or receptor) as a general platform for increasing the affinity of a ligand-receptor interaction or for creating a multi specific protein. In addition, the fusion proteins may comprise a knottin peptide fused to another protein where the other protein facilitates proper expression and folding of the knottin.
