Abstract:
An automation control system is provided that includes one or more components. The components include an embedded execution engine that is configured to execute one or more commands based upon data communicated to the one or more components from another component of the automation control system. The data is representative of a change to an object in the control system.
Abstract:
Aspects describe multiple interface support that provides dynamic switching between new and old interface revisions. A first interface application is selected from a set of alternative interface applications for an industrial automation system. Support for each interface application included in the set of alternative interface applications is provided. A second interface application is downloaded and associated with the first interface application. The second interface application is enabled during runtime. If needed, the second interface application can be selectively disabled and an operation resumed with the first interface application.
Abstract:
An industrial data indexing system facilitates discovery and indexing of plant-wide data residing on multiple different data platforms. The indexing system automatically inventories industrial devices and other data sources located throughout a plant, and identifies available data items on each data source. The indexing system indexes the discovered data items in a federated data model that can subsequently be searched to locate data items or tags of interest. The federated data model records references to data items found on different types of data sources, including but not limited to industrial controller programs, human-machine interface applications, data historians, device documentation stores, inventory tracking systems, and other such data sources. The search system also caches selected portions of the data model to a user's personal device to allow these potions of the model to be accessed locally on the user's device without being online with the higher level indexing system.
Abstract:
An industrial search and diagnosis system discovers available data items across heterogeneous data platforms that make up an industrial enterprise and indexes the data items in a unified searchable namespace. The system also indexes non-textual or multimedia input, including image data, video data, and audio data. This multimedia data can be indexed by the system in association with the relevant industrial systems (e.g., machines, automation systems, devices, production lines, etc.) so that the system can provide the multimedia data to the user when the relevant industrial systems are searched or invoked. The system also accepts and processes multimedia data from as search criteria or for diagnostic analysis. In an example analysis, users can submit images, audio, or video of an industrial machine or automation system, and the diagnosis system can identify an operational abnormality based on comparative analysis performed on the multimedia information.
Abstract:
A cloud-based remote industrial automation site operation system leverages a wide array of configuration and operational data generated by industrial assets of an industrial enterprise to facilitate remote control of automation systems from a cloud platform. Status and operational data generated by industrial assets on the plant floor is migrated to the cloud platform where the remote site operation system resides. The system performs substantially real-time control functions for one or more plant-side automation systems from the cloud platform based on the collected data and one or more control programs that execute on the cloud platform. In this way, the cloud-based services can allow geographically diverse industrial systems to be collectively controlled using a centralized, cloud-based virtual controller. The system can also provide control backup services, allowing control to be switched from a local controller to the cloud-based control in the event of a failure at the local controller.
Abstract:
A cloud-based diagnosis and maintenance system facilitates discovery and indexing of plant-wide data residing on various data platforms across multiple industrial facilities. The system includes an indexing system that automatically inventories industrial devices and other data sources located throughout the facilities, and identifies available data items on each data source. The indexing system indexes the discovered data items in a federated data model that can subsequently be searched to locate data items or tags of interest. The diagnosis and maintenance system also includes analysis tools that facilitate cross-facility analysis of the data model, allowing performance metrics to be compared across similar automation systems at different facilities. The system can also generate recommendations for improving performance metrics based on results of the comparative analysis.
Abstract:
A cloud-based industrial application provisioning system is provided. The industrial application provisioning system can reside on a cloud platform and be made available to developers and end users with access privileges to the cloud platform. Application developers can publish industrial applications to an application library on the cloud platform, where the application is cataloged within an industry-specific search hierarchy. A search engine allows a user to access the cloud platform and search for a desired industrial application. The library's hierarchical catalog allows the user to search for applications according to industry type, equipment in use, automation system type, or other suitable criteria.
Abstract:
A cloud-aware smart device that facilitates automated configuration and integration of the device within an automation system is provided. Upon installation within the automation system, the smart device determines its geographical location, identifies other devices on the system, and determines its role within the system. The smart device then establishes communication with a cloud platform running one or more cloud-based applications or services and sends a device profile containing the gathered information to the cloud platform. The device profile can be used to automatically configure the device for operation within the system or to add the smart device to an existing cloud-based application.
Abstract:
An automation control and monitoring system includes a server configured to receive a subscription request from a client component. The subscription request provides one or more criteria to the server. The server is configured to provide a set of data, via a first notification, to the client component based upon the one or more criteria in the subscription request. The server is configured to provide, via additional notifications based on the subscription request, additional sets of data, modifications to the set of data, or both, when additional data or modifications corresponding to the one or more criteria are available.
