    摘要: A magnetic coupler having higher response is provided. The magnetic coupler includes a thin film coil wound in a first layer; a first MR element being disposed in a second layer, and detecting an induced magnetic field generated by a signal current flowing through the thin film coil; and yokes being disposed close to the first MR element, and including a soft magnetic material. The first MR element is disposed in a position corresponding to a linear region of the thin film coil in a stacking direction. The yokes are disposed at both of an inner turn side and an outer turn side of the thin film coil in a manner of interposing the first MR element in the second layer. Thus, reduction in intensity of the induced magnetic field is suppressed, and intensity distribution of the induced magnetic field becomes flatter.

    摘要: A signal transmission device includes: an input signal conductor in which an input signal current flows and thereby generating an input signal magnetic field; a magnetically-biasing conductor in which a biasing current flows and thereby generating a biasing magnetic field; and one or more magnetoresistive elements in each of which a sensing current flows and thereby generating a self-biasing magnetic field, and each including a magnetization free layer having a magnetization direction which varies in response to the input signal magnetic field, the biasing magnetic field, and the self-biasing magnetic field. Each of the biasing magnetic field and the self-biasing magnetic field is applied to the magnetization free layer in a same direction to each other.

    摘要: In a magnetic memory 1, a magneto-resistivity effect element 4 is disposed adjacently to a wire 5 for producing a writing magnetic field and further a ferromagnetic body 20 is disposed so as to cover at least part of the wire 5 and consequently orient the state X of magnetization of this ferromagnetic body 20 in one direction. According to this invention, it is made possible to homogenize the magnetic property during the course of writing and implement the writing work efficiently.

A maximum thickness of each open end of the magnetic yoke in a diameter direction of the magnetic yoke is set to be larger than a maximum thickness of a second magnetic layer of a magnetoresistive element in the diameter direction of the magnetic yoke, thereby materializing the shape of the magnetic yoke. Moreover, a magnetic field generated from the magnetic yoke can be increased by optimization of the shape of the magnetic yoke, thereby reducing writing current.

    摘要: The invention aims to prevent inadvertent rewriting or erasure of servo information in a patterned medium based on the perpendicular recording mode. The magnetic recording medium of the invention includes recording tracks each having an array of unit minute recording portions of a magnetic material separated by non-recording portions of a nonmagnetic material. The recording tracks include data regions and servo regions. The unit minute recording portions in the data regions have substantially the same surface area as the unit minute recording portions in the servo regions. The invention satisfies ARS/ARD≧1.5 provided that the unit minute recording portion has an aspect ratio which is the thickness divided by the square root of the surface area, the unit minute recording portion in the data region has an aspect ratio ARD, and the unit minute recording portion in the servo region has an aspect ratio ARS.

    摘要: An optical information medium has on a substrate (2) with information-carrying pits (21), a light transmittance control layer (3) including a lower dielectric layer (31), a mask layer (32) and an upper dielectric layer (33). The mask layer has an original state before irradiation of reading light. Upon irradiation of a reading light beam to define a beam spot, the mask layer undergoes a crystal-to-crystal transition in a region (H) of the beam spot depending on the intensity distribution of the beam spot. Multiple reflection condition changes in the transition portion so that the beam spot contributing to read-out is limited to the transition or transition-free region (H or L). The transition temperature is in the range of 200.degree. to 450.degree. C. The mask layer returns to the original state after passage of the beam spot. The invention is also applicable to an optical recording medium having a recording layer above or below the transmittance control layer.
