摘要:
In an X-ray apparatus, an X-ray film is placed in an closed space formed by front and rear sensitizer screen supports and a closing member fixed to one of the sensitizer screen supports so that a part of the X-ray film projects outside the closed space. The closed space is evacuated so that the sensitizer screens are brought into close contact with opposite sides of the X-ray film under vacuum. The front and rear sensitizer screen supports are movable between the X-raying position and a retracted position shifted from the X-raying position and are movable relative to each other in the retracted position between a closing position where the supports form the closed space together with the closing member and an open position where the supports form therebetween a wedge-shaped space flaring upward to permit insertion and removal of the X-ray film into and from the space. A transfer rollers hold the part of the X-ray film projected outside the closed space and insert and remove the X-ray film into and from the wedge-shaped space from above when the sensitizer screen supports are in the open position. Evacuation of the closed space is started as soon as the sensitizer screen supports are moved to the closing position in the retracted position.

There is disclosed a nuclear reactor installation. An accumulator-type emergency core cooling system, a gravity-driven core cooling system and an equalizing system for submerging a reactor core are provided within a primary containment vessel containing a reactor pressure vessel in which the reactor core is disposed. These cooling systems are automatically operated sequentially in accordance with the pressure in the reactor pressure vessel without the need for any particular powered source. The primary containment vessel is made of steel, and the interior of this containment vessel is divided into a space containing the reactor pressure vessel and a space containing an operation floor in such a manner that the two spaces are isolated from each other. An opening device is provided between the two spaces so as to communicate the two spaces with each other in the event of an accident, the upper portion of the primary containment vessel being air-cooled while the lower portion of this containment vessel being water-cooled.

The present invention relates to a process for producing .alpha.-aspartyl-phenylalanine ester represented by the general formula ##STR1## wherein R' represents an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, by reducing an N-protected-N-hydroxymethyl-.alpha.-aspartyl-phenylalanine ester represented by the general formula ##STR2## wherein R represents an organic mioety which can be substituted reductively by hydrogen, and R' is as defined above, with hydrogen gas or formic acid, in the presence of a reduction catalyst and an aromatic primary amine. According to the present invention, there can be obtained a high purity .alpha.-aspartyl-phenylalanine ester with a high yield.

An ultrasonic transducer is adapted to transmit spherical ultrasonic waves which have a plurality of frequencies into an object under examination while being scanned in a direction at right angles to the direction of transmission. By repeating this operation, echo signals are obtained, on the basis of which a B-scan distribution image of the echo signals is obtained through use of a synthetic aperture method. Using the distribution image, there is determined position information relating to positions of interest in the object as indicated in the distribution image, as well as scanning positions of the ultrasonic transducer situated on extensions of straight lines connecting the positions of interest. The attenuation coefficient of the object is measured based on echo signals at the scanning positions.

A method and apparatus wherein two probes are arranged to oppose each other on either side of an object under investigation and each of two probes emits ultrasonic waves to measure the acoustic characteristics of the object respectively.Mean attenuation coefficients for small intervals can be calculated solely from the received echo signals by processing signals indicative of echos of the ultrasonic waves from the two probes. Reflection coefficients can be calculated from the mean attenuation coefficients obtained. In addition, a distribution image of either of the mean attenuation coefficient and reflection coefficient distributions are obtained from these mean attenuation coefficients and reflection coefficients for the small intervals.

An electronic clinical thermometer having a store of plural temperature prediction functions in which elapsed measurement time is a variable, each function prescribing a temperature change up to a final, stable temperature. Temperature at a specific point in time is predicted in accordance with a selected temperature prediction function based on a temperature at a specific sampling instant and elapsed measurement time up to the past sampling instant. The predicted value and a value actually measured at the specific point in time are compared to obtain a difference between them. When the difference falls outside prescribed limits, another temperature prediction function is selected, a subsequent predicted value is obtained based thereon, and the foregoing process is repeated until a difference is found which lies within the prescribed limits. When this occurs, a predicted value of the final, stable temperature corresponding to the prediction function is obtained and delivered as an output.

Disclosed is a means for improving the poor conversion efficiency in a bioconversion system using an Escherichia coli cell having a bacterium-originated cytochrome P-450 gene integrated therein. A recombinant Escherichia coli cell is produced by introducing aciB and aciC which encode a gene for the electron transport system originated from the Acinetobacter sp. OC4 strain into an Escherichia coli cell, and adding a polynucleotide encoding an N-terminal sequence composed of 48 amino acid residues of AciA and the like to the 5′-terminus of a bacterium-originated cytochrome P-450 gene, wherein AciA is an alkane-oxidative cytochrome P-450 originated from the Acinetobacter sp. OC4 strain. Use of the recombinant Escherichia coli cell results in much effective microbial conversion of a hydrophobic or amphipathic substrate compound into a desired compound.
