    摘要: The present invention relates to a gel hydration tank and method for hydrating gels for use in oil well treatment operations according to which a mixture of water and gel is introduced into the interior of the tank and flows through the tank before being discharged from the tank, whereby specific devices are used to deflect and/or re-direct fluid flow so as to increase the distance traveled for a given fluid volume element, which consequently increases the plug flow efficiency of the tank.

    摘要: The present invention provides a mixing block for mixing fluid components of a multi-component system and which includes at least two component inlets, wherein each component inlet receives a respective component or components of the multi-component system; and a solvent inlet, wherein the solvent inlet receives solvent for use in cleaning the mixing block. The mixing block further includes at least two flow channels, which intersect, wherein an upstream end of each of the intersecting flow channels is connected to at least one of the component inlets and a downstream end of each of the intersecting flow channels is connect to a mixed material reservoir, wherein the mixed material reservoir is further connected to and supplies mixed material to an outlet. The mixing block also includes a solvent chamber which is connected to both the solvent inlet and the upstream ends of the intersecting flow channels and a solvent diverter which diverts solvent back into the component inlets to facilitate cleaning of the component inlets as well as the intersecting flow channels, mixed material reservoir and outlet. Additionally, an apparatus which utilizes the above described mixing block is also disclosed.

    摘要: A fluid mixing method using a micromixing apparatus which includes a mixing microchannel having a channel length and a continuously variable channel width defined by a first sidewall surface and an opposing second sidewall surface. The channel width varies from a minimum channel width h to a maximum channel width H in a ratio of H:h≧1.1:1.0. A first inlet injects a first fluid and a second inlet a second fluid into the mixing microchannel which both flow in a flow direction in the mixing microchannel along the channel length. The first sidewall surface includes first curved surface portions and the second sidewall surface includes second curved surface portions. The first and second curved surface portions are non-overlapping to provide the variable channel width. The flow velocity profile is passively varied and exclusively controlled by the continuously variable channel width.

    摘要: A vortex generator intended to create a controlled vortex in a fluid medium such as a gas or liquid. The upstream portion of the vortex generator includes an inlet section which directs the fluid into the vortex generator and creates a vortex therein by use of an internal rotational symmetric cavity with a curved geometry. Downstream from the inlet section is a vortex chamber having one of several shapes in which the vortex motion is established. The vortex generator may have one of two shapes, one being a trumpet shape or elongated, and the other being a more ovide or egg shape. Also included is a cavitation assembly at the outlet portion of the vortex generator which creates cavitation.
