    摘要: A shackle assembly is shown to include a shackle bracket, wear pads, a shackle stop, shackle plates and elastomer bushings. The shackle bracket includes legs forming portions thereof, which serve as contact surfaces for the wear pads and the shackle plates. By providing conical and lateral stiffness, the shackle bracket legs allow for the use of a more versatile elastomer bushing. The elastomer bushing preferably includes voids vertically separated with respect to each other and the elastomer layer preferably is in the form of a bowtie-shaped configuration, which enhances vertical, conical and torsional performance. A first redundancy feature is in the form of a shackle stop secured between the shackle plates. The shackle stop provides longitudinal control of the axle in the event the opposite limb of the leaf spring is broken, the vehicle is generally traveling in a given direction and the vehicle is subject to deceleration. A second redundancy feature is in the form of fingers forming portions of the shackle plates, which provides longitudinal control of the axle under the same conditions, but when the vehicle is generally traveling in an opposite direction. The redundancy features are activated under other conditions as well.

At an upper end of the cylinder of the shock absorber is a bumper cap in the form a robust annular washer. A jounce stop includes a bump cushion, a cushion cup having dimpling to provide a cup abutment, and a jounce stop bracket for attachment to the motor vehicle frame. As maximum jounce is approached, the bumper cap resiliently compresses the bump cushion, and in a maximum jounce, the bumper cap strikes, metal-to-metal, the cup abutment.

    摘要: A suspension system for a vehicle having a vehicle body and a plurality of wheels movable relative to the vehicle body. A hydraulic damper, which includes a piston rod and a cylinder, is disposed between the vehicle body and wheels. A striker plate is mounted to the cylinder and is displaceable with the cylinder relative to a support on the vehicle body. A jounce assembly is mounted to the support about the piston rod and extends outwardly toward the striker plate. The jounce assembly includes a jounce bumper and a cap. The cap is mounted to the jounce bumper with the cap having a flange extending to a distal edge for defining a cavity. The distal edge of the flange deflects into the cavity when the cap engages the striker plate during a predetermined displacement of the striker plate relative to the support.

    摘要: The present invention provides a rate stiffening jounce bumper assembly, including a cup member having a large-headed mushroom stud which is inserted into the cup-shaped member and overmolded with an elastomeric bumper material. The head portion of the mushroom stud forms a shelf against which the bumper material is compressed such that the head portion effectively shortens the bumper spring thereby providing a stiffer spring rate to be obtained with a taller jounce bumper assembly.

    摘要: A non-torque reactive air suspension exhibiting excellent roll stability characteristics is shown to include frame hangers mounted to frame rails extending longitudinally on opposite sides of a vehicle. Longitudinally extending beams are connected to the frame hangers at one end and extend parallel to the frame rails. At their other ends, the beams are joined by a crossbrace extending laterally across the vehicle centerline. In a central portion thereof, the beams have an axle pivot bore to which an axle clamp assembly is connected, the axle clamp assembly clamping a drive axle housing for the vehicle. The axle pivot bore is generally aligned with the drive axle. A control rod assembly is connected to suspension or frame components. Together with the beams, the control rod assembly forms a parallelogram configuration wherein the beams form the lower linkages of that configuration and the control rods included within the control rod assembly form the upper linkages of that configuration.

    摘要: An agricultural vehicle is described having a front axle mounted on a suspension in a manner that permits the front axle to move up and down in relation to the vehicle body and to pivot about the vehicle longitudinal axis so as to allow the wheels on the ends of the axle to move up and down independently. In the invention, a stop plate is provided on the housing of the axle that projects vertically upwards towards the vehicle body. Abutment surfaces are provided on the vehicle body that straddle the stop plate. The surfaces abut the side edges of the stop plate at the limit of the permitted range of rotation of the front axle about the vehicle longitudinal axis.

    摘要: An air spring has a pair of spaced end members for mounting the spring at spaced locations on a structure. A flexible sleeve of elastomeric material is sealingly engaged with the end members and forms a pressurized fluid chamber therebetween. A post is mounted on one of the end members and extends into the fluid chamber. A shock absorbing two-piece bumper includes a rigid base which is formed with an axial opening and is seated upon one of the end members with the post extending into the opening. An elastomeric member is mounted within the axial opening of the rigid base member and is snap-fitted onto the post. The upper end of the elastomeric member extends outwardly over the upper end of the base to engage the opposite end member upon the air spring failing or experiencing a large deflection. The two-piece bumper provides a high load carrying capability with low deflection and replaces the heretofore used single member elastomeric bumper.
