Abstract:
The invention provides for the use of dry building materials comprising one or more polymers in the form of water-redispersible powders, and optionally mineral binders, optionally fillers and optionally additives, for the surface treatment of cementitious substrates that are as yet not fully set.
Abstract:
An engineered composite building material, such as fiber cement, having one or more engineered sub-surface regions designed to provide the building material with improved moisture ingress resistance, paint adhesion, and other mechanical properties is provided. The sub-surface region has a cement-polymer matrix formed by introducing an impregnating agent into the pores of the substrate. The composite building material may be formed by applying impregnating agents to the subsurface regions of the substrate to form chemical and/or mechanical bonds with the matrix of the building material, the reinforcement fibers, and/or the surface coatings applied to the material. The thickness of the sub-surface regions may be controlled by varying the viscosity and porosity of the building material substrate. The cement-polymer building material has enhanced durability, weather resistance, strength, and stiffness.
Abstract:
A composition for use in construction that is substantially free of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that when applied to a surface produces a smooth or textured, water-shedding (hydrophobic properties), aesthetically-pleasing, protective continuous coating. The coated surface as well as the method of preparing and applying the composition is also provided.

Abstract:
Compositions useful as coatings, wherein the compositions comprise a coating material and a material selected from the group consisting of: mortars and grouts in admixture with the coating material. The coatings may be water-based or solvent-based, and may be epoxies, polyurethanes, polyaspartic ester polymers and polyureas in some embodiments. Compositions according to the disclosure exhibit enhanced physical properties compared with the same compositions made in the absence of a mortar or a grout as an ingredient. Compositions according to some embodiments have at least one of a mortar or grout, and optionally both, evenly dispersed within the bulk of a coating material prior to its application to a substrate sufficiently that the particles of the mortar or grout, or both when both are selected to be present, are substantially completely surrounded by a curable reactive mixture that cures to form a polymeric material useful as a coating.
Abstract:
It is disclosed a cement paint comprising a pigmenting substance (2), a cement binder (6) and a fluidizing liquid (4) and further comprising: a calcareous aggregate (7) including calcareous granules of calcium carbonate CaCO3 having maximum sizes smaller than 100 microns, a vitreous aggregate (8) including vitreous granules having maximum sizes smaller than 100 microns, and a photocatalyst (9) adapted to oxidize polluting substances in the presence of light and air.
Abstract:
The present invention provides substantially water free aluminate cement paste compositions that exhibit improved freeze thaw resistance and are storage stable upon being activated on admixture with water or an aqueous liquid. The compositions comprise a deep eutectic solvent mixture of a polar organic carrier component, preferably, glycerol or another hydrogen donor, and an anhydrous cation containing component, such as a metal salt or an onium compound in a paste with an aluminate cement. The compositions can be kept for as long as 30 days or more at room temperature without stabilization and then used to make cementitious coating layers or waterproofing membranes.
Abstract:
The present disclosure relates to corrosion resistant coating compositions, kits and methods of applying the same, for use as fireproofing materials. The corrosion resistant spray applied fire resistant material contains an organic corrosion inhibitors, such as an aldonic acid, benzoic acid, or combinations thereof, to reduce or eliminate corrosion of the underlying substrate.
