Abstract:
An acetyl xylan esterase variant having perhydrolytic activity is provided for producing peroxycarboxylic acids from carboxylic acid esters and a source of peroxygen. More specifically, a Thermotoga maritima acetyl xylan esterase gene was modified using error-prone PCR and site-directed mutagenesis to create an enzyme catalyst characterized by an increase in specific activity. The variant acetyl xylan esterase may be used to produce peroxycarboxylic acids suitable for use in a variety of applications such as cleaning, disinfecting, sanitizing, bleaching, wood pulp processing, and paper pulp processing applications.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides azeotropic and azeotrope-like compositions comprised of methylperfluoropentene ethers and at least one of methanol, ethanol, 2-propanol, hexane, heptane, trans-1,2-dichloroethylene, ethyl formate, methyl formate, HFE-7100, HFE-7200 and 1-bromopropane or combinations thereof. The present disclosure also provides for methods of use for the azeotropic and azeotrope-like compositions.

Abstract:
A method for removing painted markings is provided that includes the step of applying a paint removal agent to a painted marking on a surface. A covering may be applied to the paint removal agent. Further, a fluid may be applied to the covering as the covering covers the paint removal agent to effect removal of the painted marking, the paint removal agent, and the covering.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are food and flavorant compositions comprising 1,3-propanediol, wherein the 1,3-propanediol in said compositions has a bio-based carbon content of about 1% to 100%. In addition, it is preferred that the 1,3-propanediol be biologically-derived, and wherein upon biodegradation, the biologically-derived 1,3-propanediol contributes no anthropogenic CO2 emissions to the atmosphere.
Abstract:
A composition for restoration and treatment of PVC materials is provided and the composition comprises: at least one plant based solvent; and at least one UV protectant, and the plant based solvent comprises from about 20% to about 95% of said composition and the UV protectant is from about 1% to about 15% of said composition.
Abstract:
A cleaning and conditioning cloth for an ice skate, including hockey and speed skates, as well as other objects, includes a rectangular body, or a body selected from one of other various shapes such as circle, square, and diamond, of cut-resistant, water-absorbent fabric and an oil impregnated fabric affixed to the approximate center of the cleaning and conditioning cloth body wherein the method includes the steps of holding the cleaning and conditioning cloth in one hand and the ice skate in the other, placing the blade of the ice skate in the middle of the oil impregnated fabric, and moving the ice skate and the cleaning and conditioning cloth relative to each other, so that the blade moves from the cleaning and conditioning cloth body to the oil impregnated fabric. The body and the oil impregnated fabric may be of various sizes.
Abstract:
