    摘要: The present invention relates to an ion guide device and an ion guiding method. The ion guide device comprises: a plurality of electrode sets distributed along a central axis longitudinally, wherein each electrode set has a ring shape and consists of at least 2 segmented electrodes (for example, 1, 2 and 3, 4 for 2 sets respectively); the power supply system which provides radio-frequency with different phases applied to the adjacent electrode sets (for example, between 1,3 and 2,4) along the central axis, and provides DC Voltages on each segmented electrode (1,2,3,4), wherein, distribution of DC potential drives ions to move in the radial direction while driving said ions to move along the central axis. The ion guide can be used to guide and focus ions under relatively high gas pressure; especially it can be used for off-axis transmission of ions with the purpose to reduce the neutral noise.

    摘要: A sample inlet device and methods for use of the sample inlet device are described that include an ion funnel having a plurality of electrodes with apertures arranged about an axis extending from an inlet of the ion funnel to an outlet of the ion funnel, the ion funnel including a plurality of spacer elements disposed coaxially with the plurality of electrodes, each of the plurality of spacer elements being positioned between one or two adjacent electrodes, each of the plurality of spacer elements having an aperture with a diameter that is greater than a diameter of each adjacent electrode. The ion funnel is configured to pass an ion sample through the apertures of the electrodes and the spacer elements to additional portions of a detection system, such as to a mass analyzer system and detector.

    摘要: A method for transporting ions within a mass spectrometer comprises: inputting the ions and neutral molecules to a first end of an ion transport apparatus comprising a plurality of non co-planar ring-shaped electrode portions having respective central apertures having centers that lie along a common axis and that define an ion channel, the radii of the central apertures decreasing in a direction from the first end to a second end of the ion transport apparatus; applying a set of Radio Frequency voltages to the plurality of electrode portions such that the ions remain substantially confined to the ion channel while passing from the first to the second end; and exhausting the neutral molecules from the ion transport apparatus though a plurality of channels or apertures other than the apertures that define the ion channel, the exhausting performed in one or more directions that are non-perpendicular to the axis.

    摘要: A mass spectrometer is disclosed comprising a time of flight mass analyser. The time of flight mass analyser comprises an ion guide comprising a plurality of electrodes which are interconnected by a series of resistors forming a potential divider. Ions are confined radially within the ion guide by the application of a two-phase RF voltage to the electrodes. A single phase additional RF voltage is applied across the potential divider so that an inhomogeneous pseudo-potential force is maintained along the length of the ion guide.

    摘要: The current invention involves a method and a device for generating and analyzing ions in order to analyze samples directly without sample preparation. The gaseous neutral molecules are desorbed under atmospheric pressure by a desorption method. The desorbed neutral molecules are then transferred into a low pressure region where they are post-ionized by a mist from an electrospray probe tip or by photons from a vacuum UV source. The generated ions are then focused in a time varying electric field in the low pressure chamber before they are transferred into a mass spectrometer or ion mobility spectrometer for further analysis.

    摘要: This invention presents a kind of ion guide device comprising multiple layers of stretched wire electrodes crossing in space. These wire electrodes are distributed along a defined ion guiding axis in the ion guide device. Each layer of wire electrodes contains at least two wire electrodes with some distance away from the guiding axis, and rotates with an angle relative to wire electrodes on neighboring layer. The ion guide contains multiple layers of wire electrodes to form a cage-like ion guide tunnel and keeps the mounting framework of those wire electrodes outside of the ion guide tunnel, thus reducing the interference of the gas flows from the ion guide device. A power supply provides voltage to each layer of wire electrodes, creates an electric field which focuses the ions towards the guiding axis.
